Subject: karmalimbo.com guides
Does anybody have copies of the disassembly and hard drive guides from www.karmalimbo.com? The site seems to be down, and google has failed to find me another source for those guides.  My HD is flaky and I would like to pull it out and run spinrite on it.

Thanks

Hello guys,

I'm on my way to make my Rio Karma relive. It's never been really dead though.
Anyway, I have a new 2200mah battery and a CF adapter. I just miss the 16GB card and I'm done.

I have a wheel-less board. I wanted to try to fix it and the karmalimbo guide is unavailable. I've tried to email the guy but ne reply sadly.

Anybody got it by chance ?

I would add a few tricks to the pot that have worked for me-
1) for cleaning debris and moving small tabs, I use a dental pick. They're really good, plus you can do your teeth. Yeehaw!
2) you can also use 5-minute JB-Weld rather than super glue, but it too will drip, so you still have to do a live-scroll while it's setting up. You can use a pin or something thin to dab the stuff on.
3) if you have a drill and a small bit, say 1/16th to 3/32nd, I drill a hole right through that center dimple on the wheel, so I can dead-aim dropping it on the center nut of the scroller.
4) Then during the rotation process, I turn the player on to make sure the wheel is actually scrolling thru a menu rather than just sliding around.
5) I forgot 5, but you should be okay. One extra thing John Briggs recommends that I now do also while I've got the player disassembled and the JB-Weld out, is to reinforce the volume and On/Off buttons with a dab-around.

Good luck & Good skill!

Thanks.

I was going to use the 10min glue (sorry I'm not English native... I don't know the name). I thought already about the thin thing to apply the glue.

I don't know what's the big deal with the cleaning process though. I don't see any debris. Let me know :)

The trick with a wheel repair (in my experience) is to line up the pips on the wheel (at 3 and 9 o'clock on your picture) with the corresponding features on the underside of the wheel.

When applying the glue, put a really thin line along the circular top edge which has the pips on. Remember that the wheel fits almost perfectly, so any excess will dribble down into the wheel mechanism and can lock it solid. It is better to put too little glue on and have the wheel fall off again, than use too much and it all get gunged up.

One last tip. the 10 minute glue is workable for 10 minutes after mixing (at normal room temp, less if it is warm where you are), but it will not set at full strength for at least 1 hour. Ideally, glue the wheel, and leave it somewhere overnight before you move it siginifcantly. Any movement in the glue between 10 minutes and 1 hour after mixing will just weaken the final bond.

Not native English-speaking.....oh! You're not duckie, you're ducky! Got it.

The big deal is that old glue will hinder a fresh joint. Also, I remembered #5. Do what mocelet says to find the pips on the mainboard wheel, and then mark on the outside of the scroll-wheel with a sharpie where they mate up. You will know when they nest up, because with pressure holding it on the mainboard wheel,  the scroll-wheel will scroll menus.
