Subject: Shocking
I received my new cradle and excitedly installed the latest beta firmware.  The two worked very nicely together. (Did you notice the past tense?)

Sadly, yesterday I went to pause my vibez and wound up delivering a healthy static-electric shock to it in the process.  It's dead.  When powering it up, it just clicks.  I have done all sorts of reseting, powering-up, connecting via USB to the PC, etc.  I have held down the menu-button and connected via USB to the PC.  Windows doesn't recognize the device.  The firmware update program doesn't detect the player.  I am screwed.

I emailed the US Trekstor support and described the problem and the steps I've taken.  They suggested that I do the things I've already tried.  Apparently they didn't read my problem description.

Given what Peregrine writes about not being able to order them, I'm wondering whether I will even be able to get a replacement for my less-than one month old unit.

So Peregrine is annoyed that his died right before the docks came out.  Is it better to have loved and lost, than to not have loved at all?  I don't know... I'm pretty annoyed that just when I could fully appreciate the DAP, it died.

The 8 GB Vibez is now back in stock in some online stores in Europe, which gives hope to the 12 GB version's return as well - at least I hope... ;)

You probably already tried, but one thing I had to do several times already because all other resetting didn't work was the following: Take the battery out of the Vibez and leave it there for a couple of minutes. The Vibez has an incredible memory when it comes to remembering it being broken.

And forget the reset button, it never did me any good.

Good luck,

Christian

Also, the Vibez may not be responding to your attempts to "reset by connecting" because the USB port was also hit. Make sure there is no problem with the USB port on the computer. I have had lots of problems with USB hubs/ports over the years.

I have used the "hold menu" trick with just a USB charger in my car more than once as a "reset". Reset button doesn't usually do me any good either.

I certainly feel your pain. This you know.
On a plus note (for you) Trekstor did write back suggesting if it was less then 1 yr old I should RMA it. Of course mine was older. No relpy to my 'i hope something happens soon'.

And, I do believe it is better to have loved and lost.
At least you had a glimpse, my friend... ;)
