Subject: She is not dying.....
Looks like for real this time. Screen just fades to black. Start it, disk check runs complete. Music starts, fade to black. I'm thinking it may not be the hard drive so I will keep an eye on Ebay for one with a dead drive. May get a Gigabeat. May hold out a bit longer for a flash vibez.

I dunno....

I think I have the same kinda problem.
Starts, at  Checking Disk %100. Locks up and turns it off.

Is my vıbez dead? What can I do for it? I tried to upgrade FW but no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

Slightly different issue. Mine will play music but only for a few minutes. I think mine is a power issue. It lasts much longer when plugged in.

Haven't messed with it much yet, though.

Have you tried switching out the battery?

Testing it tonight it's been perfectly fine. Why is it every time I post about issues it magically resolves?!? lol

Battery is new. Bought it a few weeks ago.

When you "tried to upgrade FW" were you unable to upgrade, or did the upgrade just not help?

Have you tried this?

Hi Rick,

Yesterday I accidentally found your post on the forum. It helped me a lot friend, thanks in millions.

Funny part is when I called Germany Trekstor Support Line, they just told me FW upgrade and nothing else. None of the instructions given you with email.

Thanks again. You saved my vibez. Appreciated.

Take Care,
Emrecan.

Mine is acting up again. Must be power related. Works fine plugged in. As this is a new battery, I am guessing it is something on the Vibez itself, and not the battery. I will try what is in that post and maybe even set it back to 1.05 but I am not optimistic. I won't cancel my docking station order, though, because as I said it works fine plugged in. ;) B&H said they would have the dock this week. *not holding my breath*

Weird situation Peregrine.  Mine actually did start doing this maybe a month or so ago.  At the time I remember having some problems with some songs actually being partially or completely overwritten. The ID3 data would pop up as normal when playing but suddenly in the middle of the song, another would just start.  At the time I'd say I probably kept my HD about 99% full.

Soon after at certain times my player would just fade to black while playing, fully charged or otherwise, and it seemed to dislike certain songs.  I remember having a somewhat similar prob with my Carbon, which was adjusted by fixing all tags and making sure i didn't have multiple artists linking to the same album (something like that).  Well anyway it was a no go with my Vibez either way, so last-ditch I decided to reformat and start anew. After wiping clean, i did a scan disk with windows, then proceeded to reload music.

That seems to have done the trick. No problems of either kind, and its working great.  I always keep at least a gig free now however.

I have had these symptoms on my Vibez and my RIO Forge. Wipe and reload was the fix.

Completely dead now. Won't even turn on. Plug it in, screen flashes white, and shuts off again.

Willing to wait a few weeks for a flash Vibez, but otherwise I am looking at other options.

It's ALIVE!!!!!!!

wtf?!?! Been playing with it. Plug it in, out, in, let it sit forever. Always a wierd combo of things would happen as mentioned earlier. Today, after leaving it plugged in and apparently dead, all night, I reset it. A different charging icon showed and it started running. Let it sit.
Turned it on a few hours later..... and it came back!
Check disk ran  through and it fired up. Very odd....
Just reflashed it back to 1.05. Going to leave it there and see if it lasts more then a few days.

Still running. It shut off on me once yesterday but came right back. It was on for 8 hours yesterday, plugged in.
Running it today on battery to see what happens.

Of course, no more docking stations available in the US. Got to love my luck.

Worked fine yesterday (roughly 7 hours), plugged in in overnight and working fine so far today, as well (3 more hours using the FM tuner...).

Starting to wonder if I should have just caved in and bought an iPod. At least the accessories for that are always in stock, and the device itself is easily replaceable. But nooooooo, I have to go out of my way to support the little guy... just like I did last time with Rio.... and where does it get me? Waiting for vaporware (deja vu), and unable to buy accessories because they only shipped probably 12 docking stations to the US....
I probably would have broke down and bought another Vibez when this one took a dump... (yes if anyone is reading this that doesn't own one it IS that good)...

/me is torn
