RMA'ed and sent out on 2/19.  It will finally be sent out this week (I hope!).

What a cluster F***.  I bought a Cowon D2 in the mean time, and I really like it.

I will let you know the differences when (and if) I get it.  I hope it was worth the wait.

Got it today, and wouldn't you know, the screen was loose!  Yep, 1/2 way on.  I pressed it back on and I hope it does not fall off again.

Flash Memory! nope.  Still has a hard drive.

Only major difference is the scroll wheel seems to operate smoother.

I really hope it sounds good.  Trekstor has a great chipset, but so so quality (IMHO).

Comes loaded with firmware version 1.04!  Some things never change.

I will let you all know what happens next.  If the screen falls off or the unit blows up! :)

Had to make an edit.

This video shows the same problem my Vibez is suffering from.

The guy in video is blaming Amazon for trekstor's issues.

I wanted to add that the wheel is slightly smaller on this unit.  It actually feels really loose and spins fine with one finger.  At lease there is one improvement.

AFAIK 1.04 is the latest released version.

Mh, TrekSTor seems to have some major QA problems with some production charges of the Vibez... :-/

I'm lucky my Vibez never showed any symptoms like that...

Good luck with your screen, I hope it stays fixed and the player works as it should.

Best of luck with your replacement, rxxdoc...Shame about the lack of a flash drive. Can you post some pics of the slightly smaller wheel?

Well he mainly blames Amazon for not sending him a second replacement and for sending out a player with strange markings that he suspects quite reasonably to be some kind of designate-as-defective marks.

Did nothing for mine. Dug it out. Dusted it off. Plugged it in. let it charge.
Got to work. Downloaded FW1.21, Installed with a format. All went well.
Put 2GB of music on it. And pressed play. It ran... I would pause it and come back. No problem.
Finished the album it was on and *Kaput*. Blinked off.
Press power it came back on. Went to FM tuner. Started scrolling for a channel. FREEZE.
Screen went white. Remove battery and replace. Screen was still white.
Remove battery and click RESET. No it won't power on at all.
From previous experience it will if I keep I keep messing with it.
Re-bummed out again. This player has every feature I want on a player, many I did not know I wanted until I got it.

-sigh-

Subject: My Vibez is Dead?
Quote by vladman on 2008-03-03, 11:39:
My vibez is doing the same exact thing. It gets stuck in the loading screen, and the HD makes strange clicking noises- like it's trying to start up, but then decides that it's way too hung over.

I contacted trekstor support by e-mail through their website, and here's what they told me:

______________________________________________________________________________

Sorry to hear you are having trouble with your Vibez.

Try reinstalling the firmware.

Use this link:

http://www.trekstor.us/en/service/downloads.…?produktgru…
prache=2

Download the Firmware Upgrade to your PC.

Run the Firmware Upgrade.

With your Vibez off*, hold down the Menu button and connect your Vibez to
your USB port, (hold until your PC recognizes the vibez). (*You may need to
reset your vibez first, by carefully pressing the reset button with a
pointed object)

Once your PC detects your Vibez, you can release the Menu button.

(You may need to press Refresh a few times until the firmware upgrade
program detects your Vibez)

If you have all your music files saved on your PC, you may want to check the
box Format and Reset to Factory Defaults (this will delete all your files on
your Vibez).

(If after performing only the firmware upgrade, your Vibez still is not
performing properly, run the Firmware upgrade with the Format and Reset to
Factory Defaults box checked.)

The above steps may take a few attempts.

Thank you,

support@datastation.us

I'm at work now, but when I get home, I'll try and see if this works.

- Vlad.

I tried these steps.  When I finish my vibez says

BOOT 00000003
Bad Firmware.

I'm guessing the hard drive and its clicking noise indicates a dead hard drive.

Its too bad Trekstor discontinued this product.  They do not currently offer anything that would be an upgrade (i.e. larger storage).  It looks like I will have to replace my vibez with a Cowon S9, unless someone here can offer a solution to the Bad Firmware message or a better replacement for a player that plays FLAC audio files and its storage is greater than or equal to 12Gb.
