Well, I was promised my Vibez replacement to be sent out on 3/24.  Now I get an email that they can not send it out due to a design changed (a smaller wheel).  What a bunch of crap.  I am not happy with Trekstor.  The player sounds good, but there are a lot of other really good players out on the market.

I don't really see a lot that are better is my problem. No idea what to replace mine with.

Keep coming back to a refurb 40G Gigabeat from Ebay for $80. No FM radio, though. I really like and use that...

The other ones I do like are 2 or 4 gigs.

I don't understand...Are they not sending you a replacement at all, or is this just another delay on their part? Surely you're entitled to another player, even if it's taking them far, far longer to send it than it should...

The wheel redesign comment is intriguing, though -- One can't help but speculate that this has something to do with the long-awaited flash-based Vibez...

Maybe it'll come out looking something like this?

I received the same message as rxxdoc.  The message also stated that they "will have more updated information in approximately 2 weeks."  I've been waiting for nearly 3 months already!!!  This is like the movie 'The Money Pit'.  It's always 2 more weeks.  I think that's what the Vibez has turned out to be for me - A Money Pit. :-(

To me, it doesn't matter one way or the other if they replace it with a new version.  I just want an opporutnity to get my money back out of this thing.  This smells of a company on its way down the tubes.

Trekstor is doing fine in Europe. They just went about entering the US market the wrong way.

You gotta' come BIG if want to make a dent in the market over here. Letting only 2 stores stock your product in NYC is not the way to do it.

If it is the flash version, I will be really happy.  I bought a  Cowon D2 4gb fash.  It sounds really great, but no quite as good as the Vibez (if memory serves me).  I would love to compare them head to head.  The D2 sounds fantastic, but the music coming out of it sounds a bit ????(fake , plastic, modulated? I just can't think of the word.).  If I were to do it again, I would have bought a D2 8gb and forget about the vibez.

I emailed Trekstor and asked them to address this issue with the Vibez group here at riovolution.org.

I doubt they will, but who knows.  They obviously have hard drive issues with their players.  I hope their next generation Vibez will correct this.

mail@trekstor.de  for those of you who want to contact them yourself.

What a shame, a great sounding product with a faulty hard drive.

The hard drive is the weak link of any hard drive music player.

The hard drive in the vibez less so than most.  It is actually very robust compared to most other music player hard drives.

You were unlucky enough to get a bad one.  Thats all.

What are they even using for hard drives these days? Didn't Cornice get sued out of existence ~2 years ago?

What a redesigned Vibez really needs IMO is a MicroSD slot. I'm really happy with my Vibez but the next player I buy won't be one without such a slot. The cards are so cheap and I kind of like the idea of having my whole music collection on tiny labelled chips in a box or something :)
