Subject: Emergency power for charging Vibez
A year ago I had a power outage that lasted 3 days. Long before it was over my vibez and psp etc. were dead and no longer providing entertainment.
Just recently I had heard that there were new rechargable batteries (AA & AAA) that retain their charge for a long period of time unlike most rechargable household batteries of the past which lost their charge very quickly when unused, so they would be dead by the time you wanted to use them. I decided to try them. (the new pre-charged duracells)
They make several chargers for them and one of them is a travel charger. It has a flip up wall plug, room for 4 AAA or AA batteries and a USB port. The best part is that not only can you charge batteries or USB devices from a wall plug, but it will also charge USB devices from 4 AA batteries when you aren't near a power source.
I tried it out the other day. My vibez was slightly under half charged. I took a new package of 4 pre-charged AA's and used them in the charger to charge my vibez overnight. I don't know how long it took, but it was fully charged when I woke up in the morning and the charger still indicated that the 4 AA's still had juice left. Next I'll try charging the vibez when it is almost dead and see if I can get a full charge out of it. I haven't done a lot of testing with the pre-charged batteries. I've only used those 4 and then re-charged them after. I don't know how long they were sitting on the shelf at the store, but they had enough juice in them to charge the vibez from half and had some juice left. I haven't used them in a device yet either, just charged the vibez, but it seems like they are going to work well, based off of my first test so far.
The only thing is that they are very expensive. The MSRP is $12.99 for 4 of them, and I actually paid more than that. (Make sure you get the ones that say precharged. They have some others that look very similar and I don't think they hold their charge like the newest ones do.)
