Yeah, I think when things were going downhill over there and Agent M was nowhere to be found, there was discussion of waiting until the domain expired in January of 2008 and buying it from him, or starting riovolution.org.

Weirdness.  http://www.riovolution.com is working again, but now takes you straight to the forums instead of the old stale front page.  And the forum data looks current.

Somebody must still managing stuff over there or at least keeping it limping along.

Some admin changed something. I don't recall seeing that Rio Rad Explorer link at the top on the left before or was I missing this? Either way I just wish we could know what happened to AgentM. I just hope he's OK and nothing bad happened.

That's the one thing about the internet. For all these avatars if someone were to just die or go mental or something you really wouldn't ever find out. The person would just disappear. Kinda sad.

Nordy, the Rio Rad ad disappears when you login.

The rest of your point is well taken.  I keep wondering if Agent M is ok.

It sounds kinda dumb, but my parents have requested that I leave a list of forums, webmails, etc if I were to kick it. Makes sense. Think of the MMOs!

This is all quite strange.. I was think along these exact lines just yesterday... what if something happened to me, all my accounts would be active and no one would be any the wiser...I'd just disappear... odd prospect...

I noticed the Rio Rad link too just before it went away.
Those other things do happen also. Sometimes you hear about an online friend dying a few weeks later and there's closure- and that sucks way more than you'd expect... sometimes it's like they just flew off in space, incommunicado....

Isn't there a website or service or something that you must login to every x amount of days or a plugin you install that makes sure you're still alive? I swear a friend of mine was using something like that for awhile until the novelty wore off.
Comical....

MMOs is right. I can tell you first hand that that list of forums, mails and all is invaluable. I've been on both ends having to notify people, and getting notified, and looking at peoples bookmarks and hoping for the best sucks. It's morbid, but at least your online friends will have an idea why you disappeared.

That's sort of morbid.

I recall a service like that from like 10 years ago. I'm not sure if it's such a good idea. Imagine you forget to login and then all your friends and relatives get an email: "Your friend/family member is dead" and you're not. Your list of those to notify would get shorter after that I guess. <g>

Well, hopefully it'd be well enough designed to send you an e-mail and wait a user-specified amount of time before actually notifying anyone. And maybe after deployment, there could be a button that sent e-mails/posted threads saying "JK, LOL" to be used in the case of inadvertent deployment.
