Subject: More troubles at the old site
Looks like the hacker is bored and has started deleting posts in the Karma forum. He's deleted it all the way back to Feb 2005. What a complete shame.

So much for trying to get a copy of that database.

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding...what exactly are we saying has been deleted?  I'm not seeing it.

If you go into the Karma General forum you'll see below the three spam postings that are dated recently you'll see the next genuine post is from Feb. 11, 2005.

This may be a stretch, but what about using www.archive.org etc to extract the info...

looks like the .com forums are completely down as of a few minutes ago.  it's like watching the second half of Titanic, minus the big honkin' necklace.  :'(

How would you save the web pages and bring them over here? Some of those troubleshooting things about the Karma and Carbon were really useful.

Well, we're mostly interested in the text.  If you want to start going through and collecting the good posts, go ahead and make new threads here and we'll shuffle around the posts as necessary.

Sadly, the quality and nature of the SPAM at the old site has taken a dramatic turn for the worse.  Hard core pr0n sites are now starting to take over.  It's not pretty.  Sadly, I've now deleted it from my favorites at work. :(

Oi.  That gives us two options:

1) We start moderating the old site.
2) We post something at the old site that says, "forums-riovolution is dead.  Long love riovolution!"

I've bunged up a few things that I was working on, which means taking things over proper has been somewhat delayed, but we still have moderator access to the old site.

EDIT: Technically, three options: we just ignore it, and let the old site crumble away.
I'm nerdy in the extreme, and whiter than sour cream.

I've been going over there periodically to clean out the spam as best I can, but there are some forums I don't have mod privileges in, so there's only so much I can do.

Since the hosting contract is up (IIRC) in January, I don't know if it would really be worth it to moderate the site (especially since that may be a losing battle).  I'm for posting a "forums-riovolution is dead.  Long live Riovolution" message over there.  I think we've informed most of the people from riov.com that we're over here now.  I just wish we could get a hold of AgentM.

We have no idea when the hosting contract is up as far as I know.  Currently, the domain registration is up in January I believe.
EDIT again:
January 27, 2007
I don't think I can stay here anymore
