Germans do not press both thumbs together, you press your thumb using the other fingers of the same hand. (Thumb in closed hand.)
Of course this can be done with both thumbs / hands at the same time, although there's still scientific research going on to test if this really doubles your luck - observations suggest that it just gives a luck-boost of about 60% or 70%, as luck does not seem to be completely parallelizable.
