I've posted a new version of the VibezSchemeEditor app.

Don't bother downloading this for now.  I have done some more testing and not all the colors are comming out right.  I think I know what is happening and I'll have it fixed soon.

I'll get all these bugs worked out before I upload another one.

This is a .NET application?  Maybe you could consider releasing the source so it could (possibly?) be compiled in Mono for non-Windows systems.

The scheme editor works much better now   :-)

It is a windows application.

I have also posted 3 examples of schemes I made using it.

http://www.geocities.com/tomgigear77/yellow_test.scm
http://www.geocities.com/tomgigear77/blue_test_wBackground…

Or you can just go to
http://www.geocities.com/tomgigear77/PC_Software.html

Oh by the way if it looks like there is something missing on the left side of the window, that is where the example screens will go.  Still working on those.

You can have multiple color dialogs open at once.  Each will have a title to indicate which item it is for.  Be sure to save colors you want to re-use in the custom color table.  (Custom colors only last for one 'session'.  Exit the app and they are lost.)

(If you are editing a color and starting with black:  keep in mind you will have to slide the black level slider on the right up some or else moving the crosshairs around in the rectangle of colors will do nothing and you will think its broken...  at least thats what happened to me.)  ;)

Sorry krazykit, but it uses so much built in windows stuff that it wouldn't be worth trying to convert it into a non-windows app.

Tom, nice work on the tool.  I used it yesterday to create a Washington Redskins scheme.  Came out beautifully.  I really hope you get to develop it further.

Thanks Ruben, I'm making good progress on the sample screens and I'm really pleased with how they are turning out.  It's cool to see samples of the changes when you make them.  I'll probaby post my progress tonight so you can see the changes you make to the playscreen, playlist and menus.

The latest version of the Scheme Editor at my site (1.09Beta) now displays examples of the PlayScreen, the PlayList (the one that is displayed when you hit the center button) and the Menu screen.  The various screens are displayed depending on which color item you select so that it always shows what you are modifying.  On the playscreen it defaults to showing the progress bar, but if you select one of the PLAYSCREEN_PROFILE items it will display the profile or if you select a PLAYSCREEN_VU item it will display the vu meters.

While doing these screens I learned:
The time is in the DEFAULT_TEXT... color but the "am/pm" after the time is in the PLAYSCREEN_ICONS color.

The volume level icon is in the DEFAULT_TEXT...   color instead of the icon color.

The Menu Title Foreground and Background colors are controlled by the Dialog Title Foreground and Background items.  The Menu does have it's own seperator line color though.

I'm not sure what the PLAYSCREEN_PROGRESS_NORMAL_ICON item is for.  I changed that color in one of my tests and nothing on the screen changed to match.  I'm not sure what to do to bring up that icon.  Does anyone know what that item is?

This colour item is unused in vibez. However you should include it in the output file, its value is irrelevant.

Tom - Thank you for your work on this.  I've had a blast putting together various schemes.  So far I have:
MN Wild
MN North Stars
MN Golden Gophers
Pittsburgh Penguins (current and the throwback blue)
Rangers
Red Wings
Vikings

Trouble is my harddrive went kaputz and I've had to send it in for replacement so I'm not completely sure how everything will look.  The preview screens look good but I'm not sure I have the rest of them accurate.  Can't wait to get the unit back to see how things look.

Great work on this and much appreciated.  You've opened up a whole new avenue of appreciation for the Vibez.

Thanks Slapshot!  I'm getting closer to having the rest of the previews done.  I've also made a couple of improvements like having the color dialog come up in a better place and better logic for which of the Playscreen variations to show so it doesn't jump around as much.  There are only a few preview screens left to do and a few odds and ends like previewing the visualization colors before the first complete version will be done.

I'm thinking about adding an option so that if you select a new color item it will cancel the color dialog for the previous one, so you don't end up with a bunch of them on the screen.  (That will come in a later version though and will be optional.)

I'm writing this for myself of course, but I'm quite happy to share and I'm glad someone else is having fun with it.  I'm glad the vibez team opened this up so we could create our own schemes.  Thats pretty cool and I don't know of any other music player that gives you that much control over the look of the display.

I'll post the latest version at some point tonight so you can preview more of your changes before you get your vibez back.  Good luck on getting that back quickly.

Well, there are the Clix 2 and Cowon D2, which are fully Flash-skinnable (meaning you can customize pretty much everything about the look of them -- buttons, fonts, images, you name it -- as opposed to just color schemes)...but who's counting?  :-p

I want to thank you, Tom77, for your dedicated work in bringing this app to the rest of us. I look forward to using it whenever my replacement Vibez comes in!

You're welcome epithetless.  I uploaded the latest version that has previews of most of the items.

That's interesting about the clix and cowon.  I've heard of both but don't know much about them.

It looks like both SYNC_TITLE_NORMAL_BACKGROUND and DIALOG_TITLE_NORMAL_BORDER are unused.  Does that sound right defector?

I think those are used.  The SYNC_ one I think is the very top line that says "Connected" and appears when connected in MSC mode.  It's the screen with the spinning wheel and says Charging, Reading or Writing at the bottom.

The DIALOG_ one I think is the wheel pop-up dialog (Volume, Seek, Brightness, etc.)

Double check those, but I remember having to set them for my Redskins theme.

A quick search reveals ...

SYNC_TITLE_NORMAL_BACKGROUND is indeed completely unused.
DIALOG_TITLE_NORMAL_BORDER is unused but only because its usage results in nothing being drawn! I won't fix this as it'll actually change the overall look of the ui on dialogs.
