Subject: Vibez F - When will it be released?
Hi there!

So, after my Vibez 12GB died I´m waiting for a release-date for the new, hopefully more reliable Vibez F-Model.

On Amazon there it is listed with an availability of 5 Weeks, but this is weeks ago and no change about the release date yet :-(

Cuz´ I don´t want to wait forever, I´ve emailed Trekstor twice for Information about the Vibez F, but they showed NO reaction!
So thats how they are dealing with new, interested customers... ;-)

Any insiders on this board who know more about the Vibez F?

I think it's a pre-announcement like the one depending the docking station. Maybe they never will finish the production. Yes I know, it sounds a bit annoyed. But I'm pissed up with their story of the docking station up to now.  :-/

Low capacity? OK - but I think the "F" stands for "Flash". Maybe they replaced the disk with solid state memory and there's no more room than for 8GB.

I think they could fit 32gb in a vibez if they wanted , flash chips are much smaller than a 1" drive.
Maybe they will redesign the back to make it slimmer.

FYI, I asked TrekStor support about this.  I didn't like the answer"

Dear Mr.         ,

TrekStor currently does not have a  release date for the vibez with flash memory. This new version will be available with a memory capacity of 4 GB and 8 GB. The model name will be "vibez 4 GB F", "vibez 8 GB F". A 12 GB flash memory will not be available in the near future.

Thank you,

This would be great as long as it also allowed SDHC expansion. In fact, I think I would prefer it this way since it could keep the cost down but let us have multiple plugin libraries. I still like this feature of my RIO Forge.

I doubt they would do they. Why offer 2 memory versions if you are going to offer memory cards as an option?

This so reminds me of the days when we were waiting for the Karma2. Hopefully it won't be the same result.

Does the Forge take SDHC?  Or just SD? I've got two of them and they'd be great if only they had more capacity...

I'm still waiting for big CompactFlash cards to get cheap so I can upgrade my old Carbon.

I have only used SD in my Forge. I don't think HC was around then. I think HC requires some hardware differences to allow it to address more memory, so I don't think it would work, but I'm not 100% certain.

How big? Do bear in mind that Carbon doesn't support CF cards over 8Gbytes.
