... having it pop down only after center push would be an improvement I think.

Thoughts?

Fully agreed! (for the same reasons: too many unwanted song skips)

Subject: on longer (optional timing) pop-up...
I also think this is a great idea if possible with the firmware. I've pretty much accepted that i might skip a song here and there while scrolling the pop-up menu, so its not a huge problem, but one that would be appreciated.

However, i didn't just pop in here to be a backseat driver. Kudos to the team who worked long and I'm sure very hard for this firmware upgade. I'm a Rio Carbon owner as well, which i rode til the (volume) wheel fell off, and then when i thought it was done, here comes this amazing firmware!

So just know that I, as well as pretty much all of us I'm sure, are extremely grateful for the time and effort it takes to accomplish what you have. A big thanks to everyone involved.

Big thanks for this. It's awesome. Only one thing I ask, is there any way you could change the backlight to be always lit when you are playing sudoku? I have my backlight set to 2 to conserve power but its a bit too short when I'm playing. :D

Possible Spoken Word Filter bug.

You don't remember how you transferred the track to the vibez do you? MTP or MSC?

Good find BTW.

Restore last selected playback item is even better - can we get that as a quick button please?!

No promises!

Thanks for the upgrade, this is the big improvement for me, I listen to a lot of old radio comedy, one show at a time. When I come back I want to choose the next one from a series (I don't want them all to play without stop). This I can now do with a menu-right/hold combination to return to original source.

A quick button would be better but better still, why not get the "left" key to go back to parent folder/album when held at left end of a track. ATM when a single picked track finishes, you can go nowhere, left for back makes sense, or even more simple, when a track stops playing why not return to the place it was started automatically ? - if same track wanted again just right click.

BTW how do you get out of sudoku, I started a game and needed to remove battery to get out (hence haven't tried again)? Also had machine locked after connecting to PC with "connected + twirly thing" continually showing and no response from any buttons - removing battery had the machine starting but with blank display and clicking HD (!), pressing reset finally got things back alive (phew!).

Mmm. I think those aren't terrible ideas. Maybe a bit quirky for some people?

Doh! Never get programmers to write release notes! Hold down the menu button to get out of both games.

I've seen this before but I've never been able to reproduce the problem reliably. If you reconnect the USB and then remove again it will sometimes sort itself out.

Try it, it's not quirky (I suppose it depends how you use an mp3 player) , (my sequence) start with
Main Menu
Music Library - right click (middle too often miss-hits/is trickier)
Artists - right click - Wheel-right click
Select Artist
Select Album
Select Track
Listen to track

Now (or when I come back from something else - i.e. not play whole folder) want to listen to next in folder - in past I had to drill all the way down again - tedious, now much easier but could be easier still.

(Does this make sense ? - maybe it's because I don't use the player mainly as a music player.)

Forgot to say, would still need Menu-right/hold for the enqueing etc.

Oh, I also find the "remember the pop-up" mode handy as I use seek quite often to find position in half hour radio shows - too slow with right/left button.

You know the latest version 3.04 works without a volume wheel?!

This new firmware is great!  Thanks much for providing this beta.

I loaded it last night and played around with it for hours and haven't seen any bugs to report yet.  Lots of good stuff in there like remembering where you were at selecting songs to add to the now playing list etc.

One thing I've been wanting is a way to see the album art while still being able to have my playback screen set up to show one of the visualizations.

It would be great to have another item under the 'now playing' menu called 'Show Album Art' that would just show the album art for the current song, uncluttered with any text or anything, until you hit 'menu' or 'left' to back out of it.

Thanks again for the update and thanks for hanging out on these boards to hear what we have to say.  I love my vibez.

The Beta has this.  Set your background to show Album Art.  Then, from the main now playing screen click the center wheel button until you see just the track title in the center of the screen.  Wait 10 seconds and enjoy.  :)

Thanks Ruben, yes I did see that it can do this and thats a huge improvement over the previous version.  But I'm lazy :)  I want to have one of the visualizations going and be able to look at the album art without drilling into the menus to switch the background to album art, look at it, and then switch the background back to scope or whatever.

Seems like the 'now playing' menu would be a great place to add an item to just take a quick look at the album art no matter what I have my background set to.

But even without that, I'm very happy with this upgrade and I've always been happy with my vibez.  I'll be playing around with the new firmware a bunch more tonight.

I upgraded the firmware on mine and on restart got a BOOT ERROR 00000002, DATA error and had to format it.

It seems to be working ok not but when I change to make is a removable drive, it doesn't come up in windows at all.  Can only transfer via windows media player now.....

Anyone had this problem or know hot to fix it?

Try changing the Transfer Mode.  Maybe MTP is the new default?

I want to say it was MSC but am not 100% sure.  I'll let you know the next time I try it.
