Defector, I'm asking to have it include non-played tracks.  I'm guessing there are about 100 tracks on my vibez I have not played yet, and I have no idea which ones they are.  With Karma, I could spin up Memory Lane set to 1 year and listen to all those non-played tracks.  On the vibez I get "No tracks matching the selected criteria".

Thanks.

I was just playing with this. Any chance you don't have any ONE year old? I can't go back that far to test. Reformatted\reloaded a few months back when I was having the shutdown issue.

I know for a fact none are one year old, because I haven't owned it that long. ;) The point is that I know I have a bunch that were never played.  I want these to be included in the list.  Right now, it only includes tracks that have been played at least once however long ago.

I haven't yet let it run low enough so I'm unsure of the nature of the audible warning, but there is nothing more frustrating that having the last 5 mins of your play time interrupted by periodic beeps to warn you will soon not be able to listen to music.
Can the audible warning be configurable, or at least a one off warning as opposed to a repeating warning?
Thanks

No argument there!

It's a one off warning so return to your happy place. :-)

Just updated without resetting/reformatting. It only took seconds.

Up to now no problems. And really great: All menues appear in german as before! :-)

There is a little bug, that was in the 1.04 and wasn't corrected. When you go to About->About track, it is impossible to scroll down with the play/pause button.

Subject: Vibez Display Is So Nice...
...I wish it had a video output.

And, I wish there were DJ defaults in the playing order(s) by track number.
Meaning that "Sounds of the ***'s" would play tracks from the same album in numerical order.

Subject: Yes there are always other ordering methods
Like db-i said, it would be nice if tracks from 1 album would play in order before tracks in another (same titled) album when selected from DJ, or in my case genre.

I have found with the spoken word filter, a bunch of Language learning CDs I have are jumbled when played via the SPW. For example I have
Speak Spanish, CDs 1-4 that all have tracks titled "Lesson n". Where n =1-14.
And Speak Italian with the same cds and track titles.

When placed in a "Lessons" genre and using a SPW=Lessons to select I am presented with a list that goes
CD1 Italian Lesson 1
CD1 Spanish Lesson 1
CD1 Italian Lesson 2
CD1 Spanish Lesson 2
...
CD4 Italian Lesson 1
CD4 Spanish Lesson 1

This of course occurs when any listing of genre is preformed because the select seems to be "Genre" and display by alphabetical/numeric order.

I'm sure a differing Track title system would correct this list order, but also if play order was bound by an extra constraint such as Album source or Folder source then the outcome would also correctly list the following
CD1 Italian Lesson 1
CD1 Italian Lesson 2
...
CD4 Italian Lesson 1
CD1 Spanish Lesson 1
CD1 Spanish Lesson 2
...
CD4 Spanish Lesson 1

What do other people think of the ordering of track lists on genre/SWF. And do you see the need for enhancement?

Cheers

I like it.  Similar to how playing by artists preserves album groupings and track order, having the same done for genres and the SWF makes sense (maybe in these cases grouped by Author then Album, preserving track order).

This is beautiful
I've been playing sudoku on it all day :> :>

I have a request though -- can you add an option to change the font, or just change the font to a better unicode one?

I can tell the encoding is UTF-8 since Japanese characters are displayed correctly, but the current font does not have characters for Korean or complete Chinese Simplified

What do you mean they're displayed correctly? We don't have Japanese characters in the font either!

Vibez certainly has Japanese characters. I guess it has several font sets in different size and one of them, the largest one, contains
Japanese characters (but others not). They are correctly shown in titles of the old version of play screen as long as they are encoded
in UTF-8 (e.g. Ogg). Because another encoding method, so-called Shift JIS, is used in MP3 for historical reasons,  they are not shown
correctly with MP3 files.

I really hope asian languages are supported.

Exactly right, yes. The small-size Japanese characters used in Karma were licensed to Rio only, not Sigmatel or Trekstor, so they were removed from the build at the time of Sigmatel's purchase of Rio. The large-size Japanese characters are under a more liberal licence, so were left in. As well as UTF-8 Vorbis and FLAC files, Japanese titles will also appear correctly on UTF-16 WMA files (and on MP3 files tagged in UTF-16, for that matter, though those are indeed rare in the wild compared to Shift-JIS tags).

Because Japan wasn't one of Trekstor's initial target markets, we/they didn't go spending any money licensing new small-size kanji for the Vibez, nor did it ship with the rest of the Japanese support (Shift-JIS encoding, kana text entry) enabled. Adding that back would be fairly easy; adding further East Asian languages (Chinese, Korean) would be more work as those locales haven't previously been supported by that code-base.

Peter
