It's a pain having a 12 GB Vibez and not being able to store a single file exceeding 4 GB. Will firmware support NTFS one day?

I seriously doubt it.

And I would argue seriously against it. While the Linux NTFS guys documented it quite well AFAIK and Linux can now safely read and write it, official support from Microsoft or even a BSD-licenced implementation still seems to be far off. So AFAIK Mac OS can only read NTFS, not write it. Support by more exotic operating systems can not be expected. FAT is crap but NTFS is evil. And even if it would be opt-in, implementing this mess would be such a waste of time that could so much better be spent in implementing like all of the DMP-specific features that are on the long wishlist.

I'm wondering why you want to store 4GB files on the Vibez. Datatransport is much faster with an USB-stick.

Do you have an example what data you want to store?

DVD ISO images are above the limit that FAT32 can handle. This is the most widespread example.

NTFS should be supported as an option maybe? I use Linux daily, but since it got ntfs drivers over fuse, I've got zero problems dealing with it. But then again, how can one implement NTFS on piece of hardware and how much Microsoft will charge -- really don't know.

Until then -- just split the file into separate pieces. 7Zip for example...

And to answer that "why they took down betas"? My thoughts are, maybe they want to re-organize how betas get to people.

All and all, I'm waiting Vibez F with great interests...

Thanks for the answers!
Yeah, I divide the files into smaller pieces using RAR or 7Z at the moment.

Btw, today my Vibez suddenly decided to turn off when I want to browse Music Library, any ideas?
Now I can't make it work anymore. Tried everything, even Factory Defaults etc.
It simply boots up and seems functional but turns off when I attempt to browse :(
Should I try programming with 1.19 or previous version?

Opps nevermind. After returning to factory settings, uploading a few tracks solved the problem. Weird :)

Incredible.
Sudoku, Portable, on my Vibez.
Defector, I wholeheartedly love ya.
<3

Trekstor seems quite lame in 'taking down' the betas, but if they can do it, they will.
I want to happily report that the docking station I had wanted so much is available at Amazon!
=D
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000KDZSBI

Also, Target.com is selling the FM tuner card for the Vibez for FIVE BUCKS!!!

Get em while you can!

Please update the link on the main page with the beta downloads, pl0x.

Subject: WTB Manual
I'm incredibly impressed and amazed by the beta firmware, even now.
The docking station has been a godsend.  Aside from the fact of how foolish I feel to now have an extra USB wall charger, its been fantastic.  I actually use my Vibez a lot more then I used to, plus I got this really awesome 'MP3 Player Stand' with the speakers I purchased from the store that fits the Vibez perfectly, and I don't need a special 'car mount' anymore!

I only have one request.  While I'd love to sit through and google every esoteric audio term I come across in the new firmware, I'd love a manual, a line-by-line with what each option is and what it does.

Perhaps either defector or a knowledgeable forumite can fill me in, or post a bit.
Either that or e-mail meh.  darkwraith007 AT hotmail.com

Subject: 1.21?
Am I the only one to notice trekstor has firmware 1.21 up on their website?

I just upgraded form 1.14 (I'm a procrastinator, been meaning to flah my vibez since the second beta,so shoot me).

I had wiped it in prep for redoing what music I had on it, so haven't been able to play yet.

Looks like 1.21 does not have some of the best features of 1.19 like Karma Playlists and History.  Now I need to roll back.  :(

I guess if you're going from 1.14 to 1.21 you're probably ok.  Anyone who has 1.19 will want to stay there.  To me, going from 1.19 to 1.21 is a significant downgrade.

Wow, that's dumb. I wonder why TrekStor opted to cut features... :-( I don't get this company at all.

defector, if you have any maneuverability left, please re-add the missing 1.19 features in the next firmware update!

Definitely. I'm going to make a roll-back, too. At the first glance there's missing sudoku and the start-up-volume-setting

Yeah, that's company politics: Probably they need some new features for the vibez flash - or we'll get one last version when they finally buried the vibez-flash-project  :-/

Hm. That, at least, may be a tiny ray of hope: Once official development on the Vibez series has stopped, perhaps we'll see some unofficial updates à la the "Developer's Cut" firmware that snuck out for the Rio Carbon (thanks to, uh, nestle ;)).
