"Fine Tune" feature? Guess I missed that one...What's it do?

Gives you a listing of the current contents of a saved playlist and allows you to remove tracks you no longer want there, view the "About Track" info for each one, and reorder the tracks.

Very cool. It's been a bit since I picked up my Vibez, to be honest...I assume there's a way to add tracks to saved playlists in such a manner as well?

Of course.  This is new in 1.19:

Music Library -> Organize -> My Playlists -> Edit -> (pick a playlist) -> Add Tracks -> Pick what you want to add.

or

Music Library -> Organize -> My Playlists -> Create -> (give your new playlist a name) -> Pick what you want to add.

My only comment on the Fine Tune menu is that it feels a little out of place.  Meaning, maybe it should be at the same menu level as Create, Edit, Rename, etc. rather than the level where you're adding Artists, Albums, Tracks, etc.?

Toyed with that placement slightly. It's there for technical reasons really.

If it's on the same level as 'Edit' etc then you'd need to select the playlist again for 'editing', not sure which one is preferable really.

Looking at it again, maybe it is better to leave it where it is, since it really is an "Edit" function.  Nevermind.  :)

Just as a quick heads-up. The firmware links won't work anymore, apparently some people can't tell the difference between beta and non-beta software. Hopefully someone out there has the last version and will post it somewhere accessible.

That truly sucks ass.  Let me guess: Someone had loaded a beta and started bugging TrekStor support?  Brilliant.

If they let you start posting Betas again, maybe you could include a link to the latest prod firmware on the TrekStor page (1.14 is light years better than 1.04).

I really really hope they ease up.  I think the betas have done wonders for getting die hards like us to trust TrekStor and want to get the word out to others about the vibez.

Here's what I have (thanks to mikenick42 for sending me a copy of 1.19):

geocities.com [slash] rubennyc [slash] vibez [slash] update-vibez-beta-v1.15.zip
geocities.com [slash] rubennyc [slash] vibez [slash] update-vibez-beta-v1.16.zip
geocities.com [slash] rubennyc [slash] vibez [slash] update-vibez-beta-v1.19.zip

Please don't blow up my bandwidth.  :P

For those a little more squeamish, 1.14 is up on the official TrekStor web site HERE

Defector, any chance of getting a copy of the Read-Me's?

Thanks for collecting these, RubenNYC. I mirrored your files to http://w148.de/~cmertes/vibez/, so

http://w148.de/~cmertes/vibez/firmware_vibez_v1-14_rc15_al…
http://w148.de/~cmertes/vibez/update-vibez-beta-v1.15.zip
http://w148.de/~cmertes/vibez/update-vibez-beta-v1.16.zip
http://w148.de/~cmertes/vibez/update-vibez-beta-v1.19.zip

are there. Exceeding the bandwidth is less of an issue as with Geocities; the server is very close to the DFN.

Agreed...

...and very much agreed. The beta firmwares are the only reason I'd even consider purchasing a Vibez F in the future, let alone any other TrekStor product. That year-long wait between the initial Vibez firmware and the first update nearly killed my faith in TrekStor's commitment to their customers...and then defector single-handedly revived (not to mention substantially expanded) it. Let's hope we don't see a regression to the doldrums of yore. Is distributing future betas on non-TrekStor-hosted sites a possibility?

I would never post "Me Too", but it's appropriate in this case.

I got word from Trekstor:

wenden."

I'll try a rough English translation:

"The beta version of the firmware has been taken down because a new official release is scheduled for next week.

We are currently considering providing public betas of future firmware versions for the TrekStor vibez directly on our web site, which can then be tested at one's own risk. Such a public beta testing phase will [not 'would', sic] then of course be supported by one of our staff members again.

I hope I could answer your questions to your satisfaction. If you have any more questions, do not hesitate to contact me again."

Does that make sense to someone? Why would they take down the firmware so suddenly and then "consider" putting them up again? And why didn't defector seem to know anything about it? Also, the strange wording in the second paragraph is not my bad English alone, I tried to be faithful to the strange wording in the German mail.

Anyway, I guess after all it's good news, isn't it?

Could that mean that the Vibez F will be available next week as well?

Subject: Will firmware support NTFS one day?
It's a pain having a 12 GB Vibez and not being able to store a single file exceeding 4 GB. Will firmware support NTFS one day?
