Restore last selected playback item is even better - can we get that as a quick button please?!

No promises!

Wow!! What an update! It's amazing what manufacturers can do when they want!!
For the SWF, I don't understand what it is for. when you add a filter what does it do exactly? Is it only for the genres of the tracks or it works also for the titles? Because I tried to add the filter "Love" and there was no category "spoken words" displayed in my music library, just the normal categories...

For the color schemes, I really would like to know how to edit it!

Sorry for my terrible English but I'm french!

PiNgOa,

It's for genres only.  (And as far as I can tell it does not support wild cards.)

Once you have tracks that match, the Spoken Word menu will show up at the same level as as Album, Artist, etc.  Matching tracks will show up in Spoken Word only.  Plus, if you invoke the DJ playlist, it will automatically exclude any tracks that match one of your filters.

Just happened to hit dapreview today looking for DAB reviews (does anybody know of a dapreview equivalent for DABs?) and found the shiny new firmware. Joy! Will load it up today and give it a good workout at work tomorrow.

Actually from the very beginning it's been possible for users to add their own schemes to the vibez. The format of the file was never released however but I will try to aid this process in the next release.

Would it be possible to open up the database format too? This would allow user written utilities to tweak play counts (to fine tune the DJ) and even better now - ratings. I know somebody has already reverse engineered the format but having a proper spec would be much easier and safer than working from their code.

So, the SWF is only good to exclude the tracks of a genre in the RioDJ as we can already select the tracks of a genre in the Genres category of the Music Library! Or I don't understand anything lol!

I think the idea is that it also excludes them from Album, Artist, Composer, Tracks, etc., grouping them all together under the single super-genre "Spoken Word".

Make sense?

EDIT: Confirmed, that tracks that appear under Spoken Word do not appear in Album, Artist, Tracks, Genre or Composer.

Really.  That's the first I've heard of this outside of the Linux libkarma project.

Odd, I found out about these on this forum!

This is the guy who did the reverse engineering ...

And here's another scrobbler based on his work ...

I have looked through the code and could probably build a play-count tweaker from what's in there but I'd *much* prefer a proper database spec.

The SWF is only useful if you download podcasts to your vibez.

The SWF is a solution for those who wanted a way of excluding podcasts (or books) from the normal player DJ operations.

Matching by genre seems like a good way of identifying the podcasts for filtering purposes. Of course genres for podcasts are varied e.g. "Podcast", "News", etc hence the ability to add multiple ones.

And finally I'd say that although the SWF is intended to filter off podcasts for separate playback you could use to filter off genres that you simply hate and never play them!

I've had a look at these links. So what do you get by reading the database directly that you can't simple get by using the appropriate MTP field? Doing it this way means that I can change the database format without screwing you guys over!

This is a perfect segue to a somewhat related question:  Do you think we'll ever see empeg style Wendy Filters on the vibez?  There are a bunch of songs on my vibez I'd like to filter out when my kids are in the car, but allow when I'm listening on my own.

Linux support :)
I bought the Vibez to avoid MTP.

I haven't had time to test out all the features, but I do love the Sudoku. Is it possible to place a grid on the game board to make alignment easier to visualize?

There's already a grid on screen so I'm not sure what you mean. I accept that the numbers can be quite small in a 9 x 9 grid and I wonder if maybe the title should be removed so the grid can be made bigger?

Also, is it possible to have more colour schemes than the existing 4? I find them to be a little on the dark side and thus make viewing diffucult.

I don't see any grid on my screen...simply the white playing board with the numbers. By grid, I'm meaning actual black lines separating the columns and rows. It just makes landmarking the 3x3 boxes a little easier. At any rate, this is a very nice addition and certainly helps my train commute go by that much faster every day.

Cool to hear that we can possibly expect future firmware updates!

One thing I have noticed since updating my firmware is that a few of the settings have gone a bit wonky. For instance, I have had to reset my time and date twice because it got messed up somehow. Another thing was I had a picture set as my background, but the other day it was gone and replace by a plain blue background. Lastly, I had my track counter set to go up with total, but it somehow got switched to just count up.

I haven't had these things happen for a few days so I don't know if they were just one time anomalies.

You need some colour in your life! Try a different colour scheme, the default one is kinda grey.
