Looks like 1.14 just became "official".  http://trekstor.de/en/products/detail_mp3.…?pid=66&p…

Unless there's a specific reason to, I'm planning on sticking with 1.16 Beta.  :)

I would miss the big BETA on the startup screen anyway :-) Will the final have a "feign beta" option? Might even make the vibez crash every now and then, just for the sake of pretence. ;)

I am guessing that 1.14 is official because later features were English only.

Not seeing BETA usually indicates a crash on mine. I haven't noticed any obvious improvement in my infrequent crashes with any version.

Every now and then when having the vibez in my hand its display will flash and I'll hear a cracking noise. Then the whole device goes dead (that is neither connecting it nor pressing the power button have any effect) and not even a reset will revive it. Removing the battery and leaving it out of the vibez for a couple of minutes will do the reset the reset button didn't and the vibez boots as if nothing had happened after putting the battery back in place (as well as the back cover of course).

This might be the effect that was desribed as "static electricity" in conjunction with the dock. Only that it's not necessary to send the device in. Anyway, it'd be great if there was a way to prevent this or at least recover more easily. And why did this reset button never work for me anyway but a battery removal always does?

Sounds exactly like my ongoing issue. Not FW related.

Ok. But do you have crashes, too, that seem to be related to mechanical manipulation (like walking with the vibez in the pocket or touching it) but which will allow a simple reboot (although the session is reset to the last time it was saved... could there be an "autosave session every x minutes" option?)?

Might be that my headphones are broken but it shouldn't happen anyway. And I still wonder whether the two phenomena are related.

Yes, I do. Exactly like that. And once in awhile is won't come back right away. I think it might be shock related because I kind of smacked the pause button in frustration when co-workers kept coming in my office and interupting me, lol. Got a bit annoyed and took it out on the Vibez and hit the pause button a little to hard. *wink* it went off. Came right back though.

Is the DJ -> Rating working for anyone?  I recently tried it to play just 5 star tunes and it loaded my entire library.

Thx.

Update:  Most of the ratings options seem to work.  The buggy ones are "5" (loads entire library) and  "<5" ("No Matching Tracks").

Stumbled across the firmware update yesterday, awesome except for the auto-pause-when-earphones-are-unplugged feature. In theory it sounded good, but in practice, it keeps pausing even when the headphones are plugged in. I have a set of in-ear sennheiser buds, so nothing dodgy, but my player seems to pick up false positives for the headphones being pulled out - even with the player sitting stationary on my desk. Has anyone else experienced this?
It would be useful if one could turn this feature off from the settings menu, but I couldn't find a way of doing this (unless I'm missing something obvious).
Thanks

Ruben, I can confirm this behaviour. Funny thing is that I think to remember using the play-5-star-songs function once and it worked. But I think that was before the play-songs-with-more/less-stars-than-x function got implemented. So I'd start hunting the bug there, Defector. Halloo!

Gumby, welcome to the beta club ;) When my headphone connection is a bit dodgy my biggest problem are the false remote commands which result in fast forwarding, skipping, pausing and the like. So I can't say I found the auto-pause thing particularely annoying. It works very well for me indeed. I thought I had once seen an option to turn it off so I just went searching for it but I couldn't find any such menu entry. So I guess I just have spurious memories (hope that issue doesn't affect the memories I mentioned in the first paragraph) or it's really well hidden. Either way I agree it should be changed :)

Update: "Play everything with rating = 5" doesn't seem to play the whole library for me but just tracks that have any rating (1-5, not sure about the 5 though).

The Vibez has a TRRS type jack with 4 contact points instead of the usual 3 for left, right, ground. The extra is used for remote. Because of this, it might be more sensitive to the exact placement of the plug, or even the plug configuration itself. Have you tried different phones?

Thanks - I own the remote but haven't used it for a while. I started using it today to check on this behaviour, and yes, it does fix the issue. I guess I'll be doing this for a while, but it would be nice to have the auto-pause as an optional feature. In general, all players should support generic 3rd party phones.

Also, thanks mudd1 - I also think I have a spurious memory regarding turning the option off. I think I had spent so much time pouring over various beta release notes that my brain overloaded...

I have one pair of headphones that causes the vibez to auto-pause constantly, but my others do not do it at all.

I added a 4 inch extension that I had laying around to the dodgy headphones and the problem is gone.

So it does seem to be sensitive to the plug length/configuration.

Subject: Statistics
Hello,

I just had a view to the "Content Details" of my 12GB Vibez. The device reports:
  - 2646 Tracks
  - 4 Playlists
  - 82 Images
  - 26 Other files

At this point a mysterious memory multiplication took place in the system. "Storage Details" tells me:
  - Capacity: 11.2GB
  - Used: 2.4GB
  - Free: 8.8GB
  - System: 32.3MB
  - Database: 594KB

Drive properties shown from windows-xp report better matching results:
  - 10.1GB used
  - 1.21GB free

I'm holding mostly -mp3 files and some -ogg files on the disk. Can you please check whether the values on your devices are right or obviously wrong? I think in an earlier firmware version (currently running V1.16) the data seemed to be ok.

Is there someone still running an old version of the firmware to see when the mistake occurs?

Under my "Storage Details" (with firmware v1.16), I'm getting:

Capacity: 11.2 GB
Used: 8.2 GB
Free: 3.0 GB
System: 32.3 MB
Database: 454 KB

...which seems to be in line with reality. Windows XP shows the following:

Capacity: 11.1 GB
Used: 8.17 GB
Free: 2.98 GB

(The Vibez' "Content Details" shows:

1624 Tracks
19 Image files
12 Other files)

I didn't realise the detection was quite that flaky!! I'll add a switch when I have 10 minutes to spare.
