Interesting.  I don't have this issue as I use the Play/Pause QB for Shuffle and the Menu QB for Artist.

I haven't really had a problem with this either; however i use the quick buttons quite often and have gotten a feel for  it.  I usually have menu set to Equalizer and play/pause to either update session or shuffle.

However i don't want to hamper any efforts to get this done. I don't believe i speak for the majority, just my thoughts on the matter.  And while i'm at it, what does everyone else think of having a sleep timer like the one implemented on the developer's cut firmware for the Rio Carbon?  I got much use out of that.

Me either.
I use UP for DJ and down changes between UPDATES SESSION, ROTARY POPUP, ABOUT TRACK, PLAYBACK OPTION.

I wouldn't use a sleep timer either, although MAYBE if I had a dock. ;)

I'd like to again thank Defector for his work on this. Listening to a Dean Koontz novel and UPDATE SESSION on my HOT BUTTON makes the whole process SO much better.

This is a bit off topic, but it seems I lost the "click" tactile response from pushing the right side of the scroll wheel. Not a complete loss of functionality, "clicking" right still works, only i can't exactly tell when i've pushed down far enough. The other 3 sides are not impacted at all.

As far as how it happened, I can only guess that the wheel was smushed while in my jacket pocket.  That complete conjecture for now, as I wasn't even wearing my jacket at the time

Anyone had this problem before and/or have any ideas on how to go about correcting it?  Is it advisable to take it apart to see if possible something lodged under the wheel? Replies greatly appreciated.

Thought I'd provide an update; I cracked open my Vibez (unadvisable, but surprisingly easy) and cautiously poked around. On the downside I have no idea what caused the problem, plus I snapped off the little plastic button that tells the Vibez when the cover is off.  On the upside, I did get to clean off the dust which littered my screen!  The button thing was solved with a piece of paper clip cut to size.

However the button thing totally resolved itself.  So...great!

Back on topic, I'm loving the new firmware and I'm really excited about possibly getting a dock. Hopefully BH gets them in soon, and they stop toying with Peregrine.

Thanks for the ability to switch off menu animations, the Trekstor seems so much faster now!

Hmmm, this thread's been awfully quiet lately.  Preparing for RTM maybe??  :D

I do have a minor 1.15 bug:

If I turn the power off while it's playing a song, the music stops during "Rebuilding Database" but it resumes playing for 2 or 3 seconds before the vibez finally powers off.

And, any improvements on the way with album art?

Thanks.

Release To Manufacturing.  Become officially supported.  Lose the "Beta" moniker.  etc.

I'm happy to see it released now. I've been holding off telling a friend about the new features in the betas (figured it would freak him out running a beta).

I don't think it's ready to be released. I'm still seeing a couple of small bugs although I didn't take the time to write them down. Shame on me. And then there are still some issues mentioned in this thread which weren't addressed yet (e.g. the Vorbis slowdown).

I'm only hypothesizing about where the firmware stands now.  I admit, I got spoiled by the fast pace of the 1.11 through 1.15 betas and am anxious to see what our friend defector comes up with next.

I would love to see the old "check box" animation when a session is saved.  I know (deep down) that the Vibez has saved the session but I miss that from my Carbon.   ;)

Go stand in a corner and think about what you've written!

Him. And I know, I know... I just tried to remember and I'm going to pass on the list and I promise I will publish further bugs as soon as they occur or occur to me.

Here's what I remembered so far:

- For Vorbis the vibez' responsiveness is greatly reduced.

- When the player shuts off automatically while it was locked, you have to unlock it without getting a hint that the reason it doesn't react is its being-locked. While this may reduce power consumption, it scared the hell out of me.

- Sometimes the player remains in a "Connected" state even when there's not even a cable plugged in anymore. This even happened to me when connecting it to a power supply only. It can prove quite difficult to talk the vibez into not feeling connected any longer which usually involves a PC which might not be available.

- Sometimes when activating a sub-menu and spinning the wheel immediately afterwards, the wheel input gets ignored and you have to wait a short moment and turn the wheel again.

Some points which are technically wishlist items but IMHO reduce the usability significantly:

- When I try to change the what's-it-called Rotary Menu and I'm too late I skip to the next track or the beginning of the current track. While this is mildly annoying for music, it's a PITA for podcasts (or any spoken word content for that matter). It would be great to have a short time window in which a press on the opposite skip button would activate a kind of undo function and bring me back to where I accidentally left. Making it optional would probably becalm the lot among us users who frequently can't decide in which direction to flee from some track ("Left! Right! No! Aaaaah, where am I?!")

- While I appreciate the DJ option which uses the rating of tracks I think it would be more practical in most cases to play all tracks with at least (and not exactly) so many stars. Having both wouldn't hurt either of course.

- There is a "delete track" quick button but I can't find the same function anywhere in the menu. Listening to a bunch of new music and keeping only what I like is quite difficult ATM.

- Deleting a whole directory isn't possible at the moment AFAICS.

And while I'm at it: Will we be able to see the vibez recording FM any time in the future?

Many thanks in advance,

Christian
