Well, now I feel kinda silly. I actually found the option a little while ago and was about to type up an edit to my previous post. It's called Update Database, and it's hiding in Features->Maintenance. It takes a while to perform (a few minutes), since it rescans every file, but it does indeed fix the track titles.

Good to hear that fixes the track titles.

Curious about the track titles not being ported over correctly with mp3 files.  Maybe there's a difference between drag & drop over MTP vs. using Windows Media Player to make the transfer.  What version of WMP do you have?

I have WMP11 installed on Windows XP. The funny thing is that I tried transferring some Vorbis tracks from my laptop (which had WMP10 installed), and it told me that they weren't supported. Tried some MP3 files after that (WMP10 still installed, still drag-n-dropping), and the track names showed up correctly for those. I then upgraded to WMP11 and it let me put the Vorbis tracks on, and after that I did the database rebuild.

I'd do more testing (I also have a Vista box here to play with), but my Vibez was giving me the "Replace Cover" message and powering off just about every time I picked it up last night (despite said cover being quite securely in place), and it now seems to have died on me completely, as it refuses to power on at all now (plugging it in via USB just fives me a very faint "Replace Cover" message). :-/

If you have any questions about that particular little issue, then I'll start a thread in the support area so as not to derail this one further.

FYI

WMP10's shell extension has a hard-coded list of 'media' files (mp3/wma/etc). To drag and drop music not in this fixed list (e.g. ogg/flac) simply drag to the 'data' folder.

WMP11's shell extension dropped the whole media/data thing.
