I could have sworn playcount was figured differently on the Karma; if half the song played, then counted. If not, not. Guess not?

17.  Tweak "Memory Lane" and "Forgotten Gems" DJ modes to include songs never played, the way it worked on the Karma.

18. Provide option to disable menu animations.

19a. Provide option to disable the backlight when the player is locked.  (IIRC, isn't the backlight murder on battery life?)

19b. Provide option to disable the pop-up message that tells you that the Vibez is locked.

20. Add the ability to create/edit playlists independent of "Now Playing" (as we had on Karma)

21. When choosing "Reorder" from the "Now Playing" menu, keep the player in "Reorder" mode until I select something else.  When reordering multiple tracks, it's annoying to have choose "Reorder" every time.

22. Add the "Quick jump" function that takes you back to the spot in your music library where you left off (as we had on Karma).

Thanks. :)

Not Flatty. Peter or Ukre said somewhere it was 5 measly seconds. It is likewise for the Vibez.

23. Add Now Playing to Quick Buttons.  Or even replace the 'preview track lists' view with Now Playing.

+1 for 22.

24. Speed up the tediously slow ablum/title scrolling.

Seriously, I'm looking for an artist beginning with V and I think to myself Vangelis, what's Vangelis doing on here?  Ah, yes, The Blade Runner Theme on one of UNKLE's Do Androids Dream of Electric Beats CDs, I think I'll listen to that CD now.

Now, which CD?  My screen says:

Vangelis
Do Androids Dream of Elec...
 Play All Tracks
 Blade Runner Theme (Un...

The album title doesn't scroll here, okay, play the track, switch to the track details and have a look at the folder.  Slowly, slowly, the folder name begins to scroll:
  /UNKLE/Do Androids Dream of Electric Beats/Gi/08 - ...
The backlight switched off at Electr... but I don't want to disturb the screen so I just squint and eventually we get there, a-ha, the Gi CD!

Armed with this info I scroll though the Albums, and my display looks like:

A Do Androids Drea...
B Do Androids Drea...
C Do Androids Drea...
D Don't Falter (With L
E Don't Look Now (B...
F Don't Look Now ( ...

So I pick the middle Do Androids Drea... and slowly, slowly it scrolls:
Do Androids Dream of Electric Beats - Shin Mix
Again, it gets to Electr... and the backlight switches off.  Again, I squint and as soon as the S of Shin appears I know I chosen the wrong one.  Okay, go for the first one because Gi comes before Shin.

It took about a minute!

Heck, it took twice that long just to read it! Seriously, I agree with you, faster scrolling!

Anyone else get that deja vu feeling reading this thread... Haven't we been here before? Will there ever be a new firmware?

Here's the latest e-mail exchange between Trekstor support and me.  With any luck, Peter and co. are already working on some of these, but I at least wanted send this through the official channels:

Perfect, here's a quick list some fellow Vibez owners and I have compiled so far:

   1. Add the ability to create/edit playlists independent of "Now Playing" (as we had on Karma)
   2. Tweak "Memory Lane" and "Forgotten Gems" DJ modes to include songs never played, the way it worked on the Karma.
   3. Provide option to disable menu animations.
   4. Provide option to disable the backlight when the player is locked.  (IIRC, isn't the backlight murder on battery life?)
   5. Provide option to disable the pop-up message that tells you that the Vibez is locked.
   6. When choosing "Reorder" from the "Now Playing" menu, keep the player in "Reorder" mode until I select something else.  When reordering multiple tracks, it's annoying to have choose "Reorder" every time.
   7. Add the "Quick jump" function that takes you back to the spot in your music library where you left off (as we had on Karma).
   8. Add Now Playing to Quick Buttons.  Or even replace the 'preview track lists' view with Now Playing.
   9. Remove menu lag while playing OGG files
  10. Add one-button hold function (quick push to activate, keep depressed for several seconds to unlock)
  11. Text file support (with national characters)
  12. Add feature of recording to lossy formats like mp3 or wma
  13. Add Audible support
  14. Add podcast support (possibility to exclude podcast from DJ or embed Podcast category in DJ)
  15. Add 48k sample rate to the record setting options as specified in the technical notes on your website.
  16. Delete folders
  17. Play files faster but remaining the same tone/pitch
  18. Add Quick Button for "delete current file/track
  19. Add Quick Button for "update session"
  20. Speed up the tediously slow ablum/title scrolling.
  21. Within RioDJ: Remove certain folders like "Audiobooks" to let DJ play only music, for example
  22. Change the Playcount from 5 sec. to a higher value or /better/ user changeable value!

Thanks,
Ruben

I just got mine today and have been playing with it a bit. Coming directly from the Karma to this, here's what I'd like to see:

*Provide an option to actually use the title tag of the track playing as the track title shown in the Play Screen/Music Library/etc, instead of the full filename.

*Provide an option to change the default behavior of the wheel/wheel popup menu. Better yet, provide separate options for both wheel movement and the wheel popup menu Quick Button (use regular movement for volume, just like it behaves now, and the quick button for pitchbend or seeking, for example).

*Holding the center wheel button at the Play Screen should bring up the About Track screen (just as holding the thumbstick button did on the Karma).

I might have more after I finish putting on music and have a chance to use it a bit more.

Are you by chance using MTP mode to transfer Ogg or FLAC tracks?  To make this work with my Ogg Vorbis tracks, I force MSC mode and let the Vibez itself extract the correct tag information.

Good ideas.  The more customization options the better.

You can customize one of the quick buttons for this.  Apparently, they can't do anything with the center button since it's used for locking/unlocking the player.

All of this stuff makes me miss the Menu Button/RioStick/ClickWheel/dedicated-lock-switch combo of the Karma.

Happens with MP3 files as well as Vorbis and FLAC. Pretty sure I'm using MSC, I just plug it in and use Windows Explorer to drag tracks over from my meticulously organized library. Then again, it shows up as "vibez" and not a drive letter, so perhaps not (though that doesn't explain the behavior with MP3).

Currently, I'm working around it with some custom foobar2000 masstagger scripts (renaming from "Coldplay - Parachutes - 05 - Yellow.flac" to a simple "05. Yellow.flac", for example), so it's not really a huge deal, just kinda annoying having to rename stuff before I slap it on.

Guess I missed that option, thanks. I've got one of the quick buttons set for the wheel popup menu right now, though I think I'll change that since it's not much of an improvement over using the volume keys/flicking the wheel.

I also loved my Karma's click wheel. Well, until it broke about a year ago, that is. I really miss(ed) being able to quickly seek with the wheel.

On that note, here's another feature request:

*Provide option on the player to rebuild the database from file tags.

Check the Vibez FAQ and try MSC mode.  In MTP mode, WMP "updates" the database as it transfers music.  In MSC mode, the Vibez extracts all tag info from the files and uses that to populate its database on its own.

When I first got the Vibez I wondered, How bad can MTP be?  I'm a firm believer, MSC is absolutely the way to go.

Hope this helps.

This works (thanks), but I still think the option to force a rebuild of the database would still be useful in certain situations. Like if you had already put a bunch of music on in MTP mode and then discovered this little quirk, like I did. Or if you were on a computer where you don't have the ability to go messing with the driver type (at work, for instance). There's plenty of potential situations where it could come in handy.

I haven't tried it for this scenario, but there is a Rebuild Database option on the menu.  It might be called "Rescan Tracks", not sure..
