Subject: Vibez firmware petition
Hi we've made (by we I mean Vibez users from Poland) a petition to TrekStor:

I would like to suggest some futures & changes in new Vibez DAP firmware release

1. Remove menu lag while playing OGG files and decrease battery drain for this format
2. Add custom button settings
3. Add one-button hold function (quick push to activate, keep depressed for several seconds to unlock)
4. Increase battery life
5. Text file support (with national characters)
6. Add feature of recording to lossy formats like mp3 or wma
7. Improve stability, remove some bugs and glitches
8. Add Audible support
9. Add podcast support (possibility to exclude podcast from DJ or embed Podcast category in DJ)

If you can please insert this here -> http://trekstor.de/en/products/detail_mp3.…?pid=66&p…

Cool, it's on sale in Poland? I thought it was just Germany and the US so far.

That's a pretty vague list.

"remove some bugs and glitches"???

I do agree with #1, though. I loaded up an ablum of OGG's today, and the Vibez was almost UNUSABLE with the amount of lag in the menus. Plays fine, but lags out the device...

@Peregrine -> plug your Vibez to computer (to have power form USB) and see that lag with ogg is gone -> there is problem with power state during battery usage and ogg playing. With power form USB port everything is fine...

You could add:

10. Add 48k sample rate to the record setting options as specified in the technical notes on your website.

Although they claim to already be working on it.  I contacted them about this and they replied this morning:

"Dear Cody,

thank you for requesting information from your TrekStor Service Team.

We are aware of the problem with the sample rate but the software of the vibez isn´t able to support the sample rate of 48 Khz yet.

We are working on that problem and trying to solve it with a new firmware.

We know that you as customer have the choice and we thank you for having decided for TrekStor.

Kind regards,

Horst Jackemann
TrekStor Service Team"

A few more :-)

11. Delete folders
12. Play files faster but remaining the same tone/pitch
13. Add Quick Button for "delete current file/track
14. Add Quick Button for "update session"
15. Within RioDJ: Remove certain folders like "Audiobooks" to let DJ play only music, for example

That would be so cool...

I'd like to be able to delete BY GENRE. That would help.

having gain control when recording line in, is a function that is missing in the current firmware.

it's supported via the mic in (-11 to +11) but is unfortunately absent when recording line in.  hopefully a future firmware upgrade addresses this bug.

also, allowing 16 bit 48 kHz stereo .wav recording, (like advertised) instead of the current 16 bit, 44.1 kHz is another problem.

Agreed raoulduke.  I think Trekstor figured any signal coming through the line-in would have an optimum level already or at least it's own way to adjust it.  It would be nice to see the Vibez incorporate a level adjustment for line-in recording for direct mics - I'm just assuming they don't see the lack of that feature as "a bug".

1. Remove menu lag while playing OGG files and decrease battery drain for this format

Hmm.  I wonder if this is a software problem or a hardware limitation?

[UPDATE: I see this has been discussed elsewhere: http://www.riovolution.org/post/8815;?unb391sess=60d9ea79cfb0d681aac9193d4efa21f6 ]

1. Remove menu lag while playing OGG files and decrease battery drain for this format

If the menus are laggy while playing vorbis, that's a bug. But I'd just like to point out that removing the menu lag, and decreasing battery drain, are opposite goals: removing the menu lag involves running the CPU at a higher clock-speed, but that will necessarily increase the battery drain. (The reports that the lag disappears if USB is plugged-in, tell me it's a software problem not a hardware problem: when USB is plugged-in, the CPU is always run at maximum clock. The rest of the time, it's meant to set the clock-speed automatically to avoid lag; that's where the bug here appears to be.)

It reminds me a bit of the G8 protesters saying "Write off all Third-World debt, and charge lower interest on new loans". Why do they think the interest rates are high? Because there's such a good chance the debts will end up written-off...

Subject: Playcount
16. Change the Playcount from 5 sec. to a higher value or /better/ user changeable value!

I think it annoying that after 5 seconds of playing a new song that I don´t like the Vibez taggs it as "played". So the whole "synchronization with most often played songs" will lead to frustration.
I like trying out new songs on the portable player, but if a song has a long intro one needs more time than 5 sec. to decide if the song is cool or not...

Agreed. It's more then annoying. I hate it. That was on the Karma like that, too. What were they thinking with 5 seconds for that? Should be like 30, maybe 60.
Walking along, Vibez/Karma on the in the pocket. Song comes on I don't want to hear. By the time I figure out I don't want to hear it, and get it out of my pocket... easily 5 seconds if the song starts out slow, or quiet. BAM, counted.

Playcount is pretty important for those of us that almost exclusively use RIO DJ/DJ.
