With a big chunk of the Karma section gone, is it a question of copy/paste or quote (like FTs EQ port)? On the back of any advice/consensus, I'll do the necessary.

yes.  as far as i know, nothing has come of the php ripper/scraper discussion.

To update everyone...

I've gotten into the forums as AgentM.  However, in order to do a SQL export, I need to access the admin control panel -- and I haven't been able to do that yet.  I'm working on getting full access, but that might take a few weeks (we're not at quantum computers yet).

When that happens, I'll post the SQL up somewhere, and leave it to /these/ forum administrators to do with what they please.  Y'all can import threads willy-nilly.

EDIT: Someone seriously needs to design a new skin for this site.  It sucks.

Glad to see I'm still being quoted.  And along those lines: this site renders *horribly* in text-based browsers.

What should we do with the old forums?  Should we shut them down?  I can't really see wanting to continue them, as we can't upgrade the software, and they'll likely just be hacked again.  With the access I've got, at the very least I can shut down all the forums (make it so that only moderators can post to them), then post an announcement stating that the forums have moved.

Is that a good idea?  Should a re-direction to here be included?  Should I leave instructions to PM someone for details on where the forums are?  Should I post a picture of the pope as a pirate?

I don't imagine it would be a good idea for anyone to notify "teh hackz0r" of this access until a proper database dump can be grabbed.  Then basically, I think the old site can be scrapped.  I don't know about a redirect, though, as some have expressed a desire to keep this site smaller and invite-only.  PM idea is more sound, IMO.

what shaik said.  if teh kiddie knows you're in he might try to go nukyuler or something. 

and pm instead of redirect, definitely.  otherwise we're only inviting the cylons to follow us.

I agree, as I think we've gotten most of the regulars (though we should keep looking), and then a redirect would only send the real spammers here.
