Subject: Vibez 1.04 rc5 firmware upgrade file available
I am downloading a firmware upgrade for the vibez that I found on the www.trekstor.us website today.  It is version 1.04 rc5.  I have no idea what has been changed.  I'm still looking for some kind of description of the changes in the upgrade.  So far all I've found is 'Firmware for upgrading the TrekStor vibez.'  Its about 5MB.  I won't be able to install it until tonight so I won't be able to let you know how it works until later.

Thanks for the heads up, Tom. I downloaded and unzipped it, and then ran the executable. The application looks very similar to the Karma firmware upgrader.

My wife has her vibez with her, so I won't be able to do the upgrade until after work. I too am curious about what has changed in the new version. I don't even know what version is on the vibez right now. It would be nice if they'd post a "what's new/fixed" document with it.

Based on one of the screen shots Austin uploaded at DAPReview, the Vibez ships with 1.04.  Whether the rc5 makes any difference or not, I don't know.  My guess would be that they're making this available now on the chance that someone would need to reflash their firmware, rather than being an actual upgrade.

That's just a guess.

That would be my guess, too. The 1.04 Vibez firmware, as one might imagine from counting up from 1.00, was "RC5", the fifth release candidate.

I confirmed that my wife's vibez has the 1.04 firmware, and given Ruben and Peter's feedback, I did not attempt to reinstall. I'll wait and try it when the vibez starts acting funky again.

Could be all in my head, but I swear it sounds even better. (kidding)

Actually after I ran the updater, the version on the Vibez has NOT changed. It still says 1.04. So Ruben is certainly right.

Hmmm... it came out on the DAY I sent them a nastygram about being stuck in UPGRADER mode. Coincidence?!?

Well, I haven't done a binary compare, but based on what Peregrine saw it seems like it is the current firmware.

Sorry, I got excited when I saw the file on the Trekstor website under the heading 'Firmware Upgrade'.  I didn't have my Vibez with me to see what the current version was.

The firmware is not on the CD that was packaged with the vibez. At least I can't find it. So, it's nice to have it all the same, just in case.

Don't apologize, it was exactly what I needed at exactly the right moment!
