Subject: Halo 24
Holy shit.

So the new Nine Inch Nails record will be a concept album based around a dystopian near-future.  There's already viral marketing and a pseudo-ARG around it.  Not all details about the story are known yet.  It seems like they are being released slowly.   This thread will do a better job explaining the situation:

With all this NIN talk on Digg and the interbutt, I decided to give The Fragile and With Teeth a second chance, and damn am I glad that I did. I've fallen in love with those two albums as of recent. I have a feeling that Year Zero will be no different. I spent the last day or so trolling through Wikipedia and reading up about Trent Reznor and NIN and  his projects, and I have to say I have a newfound respect for him.

I love all of the viral marketing that they're doing for these albums and THIS is the way to generate hype without a major label doing all the work for you. Independent companies FTW. I mean, the company behind this campaign did I Love Bees for Halo 2 as well as this album (which they're doing a magnificent job of, by the way) and yet still don't have a Wikipedia article.

Edit: It seems like every few shows they play, someone drops a USB key for someone to find in a bathroom which in turn gets uploaded to the internet and on that site that Urb linked to. The files are all 320kbps which should ideally be enough for people here. It's shittons better than what the iTunes store sells, and Trent and Co. are giving these away for free. This is how you promote an album. I'm going to buy this album on principle since they're giving the tracks away. I expect to see every last track released before the end of this campaign/tour.

Much as I generally like NIN, marketing like this just turns me off.  I blame it on the Blair Witch Project.

You can listen to the whole record at http://yearzero.nin.com.  Someone also ripped the web stream (the stream is in 256kbps mp3s) and it should be on various torrent outlets.

I just listened to this via nin.com the other day. I have been listening to NIN since Pretty Hate Machine, and after listening to Year Zero, I am not disappointed.
Also, I also have NIN's The Fragile and The Downward Spiral queued up on my Vibez, as I'm waiting for Year Zero.

Although there is no reference to NIN here, this is actually their site. Hold down your left mouse button, and roll your cursor over the image on the page.

I've heard "Capital G" a lot on Sirius lately, and like it.  Much of the album as good as that one?

I've been a NIN fan since PHM, but did NOT like [With Teeth] very much, at all.
