Subject: Did AgentM return to riovolution.com?
I noticed all the spam was removed from the forums but don't see a post by him anywhere.

I had found an AgentM on other boards hosted by Invision Power.  He/she was posting in the Music section and discussing some complicated mixing and remixing techniques.  I sent them an email asking if they were the AgentM on rio.com. and telling them of the problems, etc.

Recd a reply several days later, saying no they weren't, but if they were, they would certainly want it taken care of - with a wink.  About two weeks later the spam was cleaned up.

I had also sent two emails to Invsion describing the problems and asking what it would cost to maintain the board as a library and asking if it could be continued after the license expired.  They responsed that they would get back to me, but haven't.      That's all I know.

Why would M be so secretive of his identity?

I would guess that he has tired of us and doesn't want to face a lot of "But why did you leave us, Agent M?! T_T".

More like doesn't want to face the people that donated money to the site.

Honestly, I wouldn't really care, myself. Just an occasional "Hi welcome to my party" would have been nice.

Deleting spam is nice and all, but I wonder if he bothered to fix our jacked accounts. Or renew the domain registration. Maybe I'll have time to check on that in a year or two.

Actually, snark aside, he doesn't really owe us anything. I doubt the donations he received even came close to covering his costs, so it's not like he took our money and went to Tahiti.  He is perfectly entitled to abandon his site for months on end, and we are perfectly entitled to take our ball and go elsewhere.  Which we did.  How convenient.

Perhaps, but as a community, it would have been nice to offer to transfer the domain and hosting.  There are enough of us that would have been willing to buy it from him..

Absolutely. But I always got the impression that M was more interested in cultivating his mystique than really being a part of our community.  Although one could argue that his mystique was a part of the community, at least for awhile.

meh.  I'm rambling.  So yeah, it would have been nice, and it sucks that he didn't.  I agree.

My only concern was I hope he wasn't hurt or something. I mean he vanished. But otherwise I almost never go back to that site.

Yeah, I've thought about that possibility, too.  But I don't think we'll ever find out for sure.

Yeah, probably not for awhile, and since the spam went away he probably is fine. He probably just wanted to end having responsibility for the site and thought this was the best way to kill it.
