I've harvested my last 8 "free CDs" from bmg music service.  They shut down, May 31.

I got Audioslave's second album (not as good as the first), some Chemical Bros, Fatboy Slim, Luscious Jackson, & Joss Stone.

I'm begining to think I could almost just listen to Golden Earring doing RADAR Love and The Hollies Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress, all day long, repeating...

Of course, also having the DJs' tracks from the Grand Theft Auto Vice City soundtrack doesn't hurt.
Tell him about the Twinkie...

i was 11, in primary school, carrying one of these (http://pianopod.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/casset…) in my forearm, around school with my headbanger friends and one of them brought a tape from his older brother. it had motley crue's 'home sweet home' and tokyo blade's 'if heaven is hell', among others on it. everyone wanted to carry the recorder and head the small group around school so everyone could see how cool we were. one day the school principal confiscated it from me, but hopefully returned it when the day was over.
some days we would climb to the roof of the class rooms and stood there just listening to all sorts of music from dire straits to celtic frost.

after 23 years, i listened again to these songs and literally, goose bumps all over. it doesn't matter when you were born, the right songs at the right time follow you forever even if your music style change drastically.

other stuff i've been (re)discovering:
sigue sigue sputnik, nena, air, apollo 440, owl city, arctic monkeys, devo, racer x, vicious circle, xentrix, w.a.s.p.
