Hopefully it continues to download quickly, I was pulling it down between 250 and 350 KB/s.

Explosions In The Sky's All Of A Sudden I Miss Everyone.
Blonde Redhead, 23.
Death In Vegas, The Contino Sessions.
Tomorrow Never Knows from The Beatles, Revolver.

That last in the slightly doubtful hope that someone else has actually made it to their current age without hearing that track. I always thought the Beatles were all about sappy pop about holding people's hands, and a little bit about trippy psychedelia, but it turns out that in-between-times they invented and then ignored modern electronica/dance. You've got Ringo drumming on a tape loop, like literally a loop of tape, and John Lennon singing like he's a backing track on Papua New Guinea. It sounds incredible, it sounds like the Stone Roses, and it was recorded in 1966.

If you're interested, my buddy (and some of his buddies with really really expensive gear) recorded 5 EITS shows from this latest tour (Eugene and Portland, OR, Vancouver, BC, and two in Seattle, WA) and he has them up on his blog in all of their FLAC glory.  He doesn't go tape with a DAP or something shitty, he has nice gear and the recordings are awesome.  This means a lot coming from me because I hate live audio recordings.

He's got a lot of other indie-ish and various other stuff on the blog as well.

He and his cohorts are also doing a dvd of the 5 shows that he's planning on torrenting when its done.  All but one had multiple cameras recording, and he was using his new Canon HV20 to film, so at least one angle is going to look awesome in widescreen.

Oooo. Actually very interested, yes, thanks. I can't remember now what tipped me off to Explosions In The Sky -- it was either Amazon recommending them (perhaps because I liked Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven) or maybe I read their review on The Onion AV Club (the only music reviews other than Piccadilly Records, Manchester that I'll buy from site unseen). It was one of those CDs that ends up in your Amazon wish-list without you really remembering why you put it there. Either way I ended up "discovering" them about two weeks after they played Cambridge :( so it'll be great to hear what they sound like live.

Ever hear the Fab Faux play?  They're a Beatles tribute band but not in the traditional sense, i.e. no costumes or mop-top wigs.  They're goal is to faithfully reproduce Beatles tunes as they were recorded and play them live, including every instrument and sound effect.  (Yes, even the alarm clock in "A Day in the Life".)  Pretty amazing stuff. http://www.thefabfaux.com/

Can't stop listening....

Black Devil Disco Club - 28 After

"After nearly thirty years, Black Devil's 'extremely rare disco masterpiece' finally receives a proper follow-up. 28 After is an epic journey into the deepest electronic disco, full of haunting vocals, warped lyrics, twisted yet melodic electronics and crisp dance beats. In 2004, Aphex Twin's Rephlex label released an album by Black Devil called Disco Club, a re-issue of a long-lost supposedly 'Italo disco' classic from 1978. Given its absurdly modern sound many doubted its authenticity, some even suggesting that it was a collaboration between Richard James and Luke Vibert. The real story is stranger still. Although credited to Joachim Sherylee and Junior Claristidge and executive producer Jacky Giordano, the album is actually the work of obscure French producer Bernard Fevre, until now known solely for two incredibly rare tracks, the electronic masterpiece The Strange World of Bernard Fevre and the even rarer Earthmessage (as sampled by The Chemical Brothers on 'Got Glint?' from the Surrender album). Now comes a 'new album,' so similar in sound and structure to the original album that it's impossible to know if it was created near the time of its predecessor, or in the last few years. Mr. Fevre's not divulging when or where it was recorded."

More back story here

Also the 1978 "Disco Club", but I like "28 After" more. This stuff is crazy good thru headcans man. There's a little piggy that knows about both of these albums...  ;-)
