Subject: Forge question: firmware upgrade for sdhc cards?
Are there any Rio/Sigmatel engineers out there that can tell me if a firmware upgrade for the Forge will enable sdhc cards? Thanks.

I'm no Sigmatel or Rio engineer but i don't think that will do, by the way the 3.04 firmware works great on the Forge.

SDHC isn't something that can be fixed in firmware, AFAICT.  It's different enough hardware to render that impossible, though SDHC readers will also read SD.

On at least one device, the Edirol R09, it has been fixed in firmware.  However, I couldn't say that it'd be possible on the Forge's hardware, and Rio's dead anyway.
I don't think I can stay here anymore

SDHC uses the same form factor as SD, but the SD 2.0 standard in SDHC uses a different memory addressing method (sector addressing vs byte addressing).
4GB SDHC cards can only work with SDHC compatible host devices. The SDHC logo is supposed to ensure compatibility.
SDHC readers and other devices are supposed to be backwards compatible with SD cards.

Maybe I was wrong.  It seems like something that could be fixed in firmware, at least in some cases.
