Subject: Trekstor Vibez WISHLIST
Trekstor, bitte:

- a setting in the QUICK BUTTON menu for UPDATE SESSION, not CREATE. I don't need to get to CREATE nearly as often as I need to UPDATE. When I am listening to an audio book, for example? An update hot button would be tremendous. 2 quick clicks and your spot is saved? Bliss...

- Re: the lock function. It would be nice to be able to FFWD or RWD through songs, in addition to PLAY/PAUSE while locked. Only disable the rotary VOL.

These 2 seem pretty easy?

How do you update the firmware on these things? :D

needs a better quality screen more than anything, but i guess that's not an option :(

as to the software, i'd like to see:

option for using the scroll wheel for pitchbend and seek as was originally intended on the Avalon

nested playlisting

support for AAC audio

Not sure what you mean here: the Vibez does use the scroll wheel for pitchbend and seek, in exactly the same way as Avalon.

Yea, the Wheel does PITCHBEND, SEEK and BRIGHTNESS. Touch the wheel. When VOL comes up, press LEFT and you can toggle between the 4 options.

Better quality screen?!? I'm puzzled by that one. I have ZERO complaints about that. I think it's very pretty. Then again, I haven't seen as many as you have. lol

Edit: "support for AAC audio"
Is this even plausible? I haven't seen a single non-iPod player out there that plays AAC even though it's an acceptable format.

Wasn't the SMTP 3600 series supposed to support AAC?

Wait!  Found on the spec sheet:
Audio/Image Decoder Support: MP3, WMA, WAV
(PCM, IMA-ADPCM, MS-ADPCM), AAC, Ogg Vorbis, JPEG

I'm thinking that the support just wasn't written in to Avalon?
Could support be added?
I'd like to see that.
This is my signature, damn proud of it!

I don't have a Vibez (yet), so this may already be in there, but what I'd like to see is support for gain tags. I really wish my Karma had this. I think I recall reading on the old board that this feature was coded on the Karma but not turned on due to the possibility of damaging the ears of clueless users.

AAC isn't a problem for anyone to implement, it's just that it costs to license the codec - and then also to have your tech support department fend off all the people complaining that they can't play their iTunes purchased content on your player, as they wrongly assumed that AAC support means iTunes store support.

Oh that's easy; just reroute the calls directly to Apple.

My few Vibez wishes - they're all to do with the DJ function, which is currently useless to me :-(

  • Seperate Folder / tag support for audio books so that they don't show up in  DJ mixes
  • Pick-an-album-at-random DJ mode, or alternatively a shuffle mode that keeps album tracks together in order
  • "Go to album/artist" function for when listening to random mixes. I often hear a song on random play and then want to listen to the album it is from / more from the same artist.

I agree with floorten's requests, as well as this one:

The ability to disable only the rotary function of the scroll wheel/D-pad would be sublime.
