firehouse777: Could I have my two Karma boards ordered from you in March?

I have been very patient, but have had nothing. Was I unwise to order from you?

Fix things up and I will give praise where it is due.

Remember the Ably Tech adaptor : http://www.riovolution.org/post/9845 I'm sure you made money off my post but when I want to pay for and deal fair with you for those Karma boards what happens?

I am furious.  :#:

Sent money $80 for 2 boards + intl shipping:
Payment details

I can report about a recent order from David Daniel (?). It was a little iffy but worked out in the end.

I originally contacted him via his webpage submission form. Didn't hear back for awhile. May 28 he emailed me and we made arrangements, $30 for a Karma board with $5 shipping. Paid by paypal to the same email address he contacted me with but the name on the paypal account is Billy Morgan (?). After that, said he would let me know when the part shipped out.

Didn't hear anything by June 2 so I emailed. He replied back the next day saying it was shipped and should be there soon and let him know if doesn't arrive he can ship another.... Now in my experience when someone quickly volunteers to resend an item it's usually because they haven't actually sent one yet. And it never arrived. USPS hasn't lost any mail for me (IIRC) in 7 years at this address, but OK it could happen.

I waited to Jun 11 to request he send another one. Sent a few emails in the meantime and he was good about responding. Said he would send another June 13.

Arrived June 20. I haven't got around to installing it yet but it looks good, wheel intact (or glued) - main thing I needed. The board was shipped in an empty Karma shell. He originally asked if I needed any pieces, and I requested any decent looking lens he might have, as my other karma is beat to hell. So that was a nice bonus.

My take on is just as it seems. Very slow shipper but willing to make good on a deal.

polando, have you tried contacting him by email? I have a phone # he gave if you need it, although I did not try to call.

also thanks for suggesting that CF adapter I ordered 2 and it's working perfect in one of my units.

I have a conversation of several (well 13 actually) emails including two tracking number links that confirm nothing other than USPS were expecting to ship a consignment.
As he had told me he could not manage to ship internationally (despite my paying for it) I arranged a delivery address in New York City.
As yet nothing has arrived there...

...I am more than happy to report a successful transaction should it happen.

You are lucky (perhaps because of your association with a well-known site) to have received your goods within a month. I have been waiting for 3 months so far.

I just want my Karma boards.

Did you use paypal? Can you "dispute" the transaction?

More than 45 days have elapsed...

...they are not willing to accept a dispute unfortunately.

Subject: update
Quote by David Daniel aka Firehouse777 6th July 2011:
Hi I am very sorry for the wait and all.  I won't bother you with the details of what I am going thru here but yes I want to get your items to you.  Please e-mail me the US address again and exactly what items I was sending to you just to make sure I have it all correct.  I will get them shipped out tomorrow with  Expedia shipping  and tracking.

I am truly sorry for all the trouble and wait.  I will throw in some extra items along with the other extras I was shipping.  Just let me know if you need anything specifically.

Really hope it all turns out OK...

...heard nothing since that email.

I got a board with the adapter from him about a year ago. He took a long time to ship and it took about a week of emails to get a response, but ultimately, he sent me my order with another board and extra shell.
If I had a signature, think I'd share it with YOU?

These stories are unfortunate.

I can only speak for myself, but I dealt with David back in 2009, and I am very grateful to him. He took my completely dead Karma and breathed the life back into it by modding it with a 32 GB flash drive and my Rio is better than it was back in 2004 when I bought it. He also repaired the button on front and the scroll wheel, both of which were damaged. He also made the case nicer looking too.

I have absolutely no technical expertise and didn't want to fiddle around with modding it myself. I'm very thankful I found someone like David through this message board who was able to do it. Yes, it was expensive, but I hope it will now last for years and years as I agree with many of the users here, that the Rio Karma is still the best mp3 player I have ever seen, owned or heard about.

I just wanted to weigh in because I am a very happy customer of David's, and I would go back to him if I ever wanted to buy another Karma (hey...just in case!) or, maybe when that day comes, even upgrade my present Karma because I really don't want to do it myself.

Hi John

I don't doubt you had a great service from David back in 2009. The reason I went straight to David was that I remembered him from days gone by as offering a great service. I saw no reason to think that had changed...

We all come across difficulties in our lives that get in the way of doing what is right. There are many examples of that in the news every day.

As you say, it is unfortunate that (for me) that David has been unable to fulfil an order placed 4 months ago.
I feel that he should step up and give me a refund or send the goods I ordered.

Update:

Precisely nothing has happened since I emailed him - 3 times this month so far. I called and left messages - at the right time of day in case you are wondering...

I also left 2 responses at http://firehouse7777.weebly.com/contact-infor.html.

Still nothing.

Not that I can afford it at the moment but does anyone know where I can get a working Karma motherboard...?

This is a bit disheartening....  I had spoken to David via email back in June and was just about to send him my Karma to upgrade it to a  CF card and add a new battery...

Now wondering if I should even do that.  I have been searching high and low for a DAP that could replace my Karma.  The Cowon J3 comes closest, but I hear the UI is horrible.

Well, exactly nothing has happened again this month.

I have had no response.

I have to assume I will never see that money or the boards I ordered.

Six months is a long time to wait, David...

update: his cell number is 'not accepting calls at the moment'
