Subject: Defector and Team Cambridge
I just thought I'd share with anyone who may be listening, an email I just sent to Defector.
It was March of 2009 when he gave us hope that something new and great would be coming out of Cambridge. I understand things have changed with Trekstor since then, but I still hold to those words from Defector. Just knowing that Team Cambridge still exists would be something.
Anyway, following is my message. Maybe a little show of support from the forum die-hards might result in something/anything.

Hi Defector,
I think I will make a post on Riovolution that will be similar to this message.
I'm just hoping to hear some news or update on Team Cambridge - if it still exists.
The silence is killing me and I have not forgotten your post of 2 years ago stating, "Don't worry the Cambridge team is still here! We're working very hard on the next great product. I hope you guys enjoy the next big product coming out of this office."
I've been holding my breath ever since - still I haven't passed out.
I wish you the best and I hope that something will turn up that will finally give you and the team the recognition deserved for all your great work.
I miss you...
Cheers

Hi there!
I'm brand new to Riovolution, but my new Vibez is underway from Europe.
I own a few empeg/Rio-Car players and have followed the progression of the player software with interest.
I was expecting to buy a Vibez when they released the flash version, but we all know what happened there. :(
So, finally I found a way to get my Vibez need sated via eBay.de and some very helpful and friendly people across the ocean.

I'm interested to hear what the Cambridge crew might all be doing these days.

Hi Robotic,
And welcome to the once thriving Vibez community - all but dead now.
Good call on eBay.de. I did the same and picked up 2 new units. Both were new but had minor flaws/issues. One had a pixel problem with the display screen (not a big deal) and the other had the media boot error problem. Both are working fine. These issues along with the availability in Germany through non-official distributors has lead me think that these units were liquidated by Trekstor in the bankruptcy proceedings. Just a guess, but could be the case. It makes me wonder what might have become of the flash players they had ready for market before they were pulled. My German contact (thru eBay.de) knew nothing of the Vibez F. Regardless, the Vibez can be had - and for cheap. It's one way to get an otherwise unavailable Cornice hard drive - for those who might like to replace in their old Vibez player! I was able to revive my old Vibez by swapping the HD from one the new units - it now works like it was new.
I doubt whether this info helps anyone. Doesn't seem like there is anyone here.
I still check in from time to time hoping to learn that the great software developed by Cambridge will have a continued life - somewhere / somehow.
Best

thanks for the heads up.

http://cgi.ebay.de/TREKSTOR-VIBEZ-MP3-PLAYER-12G…?pt=DE_…

more than 10 available! woh. going to get a few extra. been using my sparingly given it's rarity, or so i thought.

only problem is that i don't read german and ebay.de is gibberish to me. any idea how i can purchase? i'm emailing htpro2007@yahoo.de listed on the auction, see if they can assist.

Well, my foray into the Vibez world was not successful, with respect to technology.
The unit I received was faulty and couldn't boot up properly.
I was very disappointed, but it was a gamble that I accepted in the first place.
"Shot in the dark" and all that...

Very successful was coordinating with a friendly member here to obtain the unit and several accessories from the European sources!  I hope one day I can return the massive favors.

I've passed along my Vibez collection to an empegger who was requesting some parts.  I hope he enjoyed the birthday gift.

man.. that sux. sounds like you went to a lot of trouble to get one.

i'd love to get a second Vibez for the collection and one dock. some guy in Germany has a bunch but no way to get them. you'd think if they're not selling then he/she could put in an extra 10 minutes of work for international shipping. guess it's not worth their time and i'm not rich enough for any of the more exotic acquisition services. crapola.

the bigger issue was that no one else was willing to license the Karma/Vibez software. sad :(
