Subject: Boot Error 00000002 media error
>sigh<
I went to the gym last week all ready to listen to music but when I started it up I got the above message after the initial Vibez screen. Then it shut off.
I've been searching for a solution & have tried to install firmware but I can never get that far. The Vibez isn't even recognised by either Vista or XP.
Any thoughts or is it dead?
If dead any suggestions for a replacement? I like FLAC files so that's important as is sound. The S9 sounds good as does the I9 both from Cowon.

One possibility:  Call up the folks at Datastation and see if they have any of the 12 GB Seagate based ones left:

See this thread for more info:  http://www.riovolution.org/post/15517  I have one of these and it works beautifully.

$200? I can get an i9 for that or put it towards a s9 or j3. I dunno. I'm kind of short on cash so I need real bang for my buck.
But thanks for the info RubenNYC! Greatly appreciated.

Wait 12gb? Not 16 or 32?

And there are 2 sitting at the Amazon Germany market for about $62 US but we can't get them here because of electronics restrictions. (>.<)

Well unfortunately I have had to bid a fond farewell to my Vibez and have opted for the Sansa Clip+ with a 16GB microsd card. It was certainly a hell of a lot cheaper for ~24gb of space than replacing the Vibez. Got it on offer for $50 for both.
Just received it today and the sound is wonderful albeit a tad 'colder'. Probably just have to play about with the EQ settings.
I sadly leave the Vibez family. I loved that little player. Great sound. Easy to use. Mostly problem-free (until it went tits-up that is). If Trekstor does a flash version of it or someone starts another brand based on it I'll definately take a look...or listen (if anyone in the US actually carries the damn thing).
Thanks for everyone's help over the past 2 or so years.
