Subject: Vibez & Windows 7
Hi all,
been a while since I've been here. Still enjoying my Vibez. People that take a listen can't believe the sound!
Sooooo....I recently upgraded to Window 7 64bit and it doesn't recognise my Vibez >sad<.
I checked MSs site & no it's not listed as compatible (I'm shocked. Shocked! Well, not that shocked.) and wondering if anyone else is in the same situation & has had any luck.
Read up briefly on XP virtualisation but not much.
Thaks all!

Can't you just put it in Mass Storage mode?

Yes, I think MassStorageMode is the best option. An managed with Winamp instead of WMP should work with Win7.

The only thing that the manual talks about is MTP....which is apparently a MS thing. I'm assuming that I change the setting from automatic but I can't recall where it's located.
It seems odd that all other version of Windos regognise it automatically as basically another drive but not 7, but I will give it a shot.

Ok well I tried all of the transfer settings on my Vibez (MTP / MSC / auto) but Wind'ohs still isn't 'seeing' it. No sounds, nothing showing in explorer, or drives or device manager. I'm kind of out of ideas.

OK here it is: Vibez isn't being recognised by windows 7 at all. Plugged in and nothing. I tried all drivers and still nada.
I'm stumped (and really sick of windows 7).
Help!  :-O

I just tried it with Windows 7 64-bit, and indeed it doesn't work in MTP mode (or in Automatic mode, which of course ends up with MTP), but it does work in mass-storage mode. This is with not quite the release firmware, but it's the rough equivalent of what you know as the 1.1x firmwares. (The original 1.00 firmware didn't have the USB Transfer Mode setting, and was effectively always in Automatic mode, so that's not going to work.)

If you aren't seeing a device there even in Device Manager, then it's not a software problem. Try a different cable, a different port, a different PC.

Hi Peter,
I have tried both other ports & other cables. Nada.
The only thing that I haven't tried is connecting it up to my wife's laptop running XP.

To be honest I'm quite sick of 7. Not only does it freeze randomly, not recognise my Vibez but it also doesn't recognise my Android G1 and the UAC is simply out of control. If I'm set up as an adminstrator I should have access to do everything not still have to 'take control' or 'run as adminstrator'.
The Aero and other gimmicks - I just don't care about them. I want something that works and I am going to do a clean install of XP on my Pavillion m8530f. I have XP slipstreamed with SP3 so it'll be no problem.

Thanks everyone for your help.

Hi,

I also have Win7 64bit and I have no problems with the Vibez.

It works in all transfermodes without any problems...

I finally did a BIOS update to my machine & have it back to Vista x64 (don't ask why) but haven't tried plugging in my Vibez.
I'm glad that Melonos' is working. It gives me hope.
Thanks everyone!
