Subject: KingSpec 64GB SSD for Rio Karma
Here is my KingSpec 64GB SSD drive for sale as I have no further need for it.

It has no problems whatsoever, reason I'm selling is I upgraded to 128GB one.
It's a no-hassle, no-modification, direct replacement of the original 20GB Hitachi drive in Rio Karma as they are exactly the same size. (see pics)
Price is 175$ to this forum members.
Air shipping worldwide is included with tracking number provided, Paypal accepted.

Your question made me curious, so I did some quick checking (I'm not shopping nor have I been shopping around)... I like the idea of one of these, for simplicity.  (I still suspect that the CF solution uses less power and is as easy/easier to find one that fits.)

The cheaper ones I see on newegg are smaller capacity and/or SATA (Karma would be PATA).   All they have there also *look* to be bigger than the 60 x 70mm for the Karma.  I guess we'd be looking for 1.8" ?  You'd have to check manufacturers datasheets for exact size, and if they'll run at 3.3v...

If nothing else, if you buy his, or find the same elsewhere, you know it can work in a karma.

I mention all this, only as fyi for those who might not have been aware -not to be critical or anything.  If you're seeing them cheaper somewhere, I'm sure we'd all love the info on that.

From industry news various manufacturers are supposed to be coming out with cheaper units, but flash chip prices also keep going up.  PATA is still more common that CF, but will they bother to do the high-volume PATA products?

Not to be a dick, but I guess it's hard not to when you're making what would appear to be a dickish reply- you'll just have to take my word for that that I'm only posting for the sake of the information here. Any implied dickishness is the sole responsibility of the readers and the Chubb Foundation.....ymmv, etc. etc.

@John30_06

Price revised, thanks for notifying me.
Now I think I'm going to SSD way for my pc too...which I should have upgraded years ago, lol.
Last time I checked, I had only liked Intel X-25 series which were way too expensive, hope they normalized pricewise nowadays.

Not even close to normalizing at the moment. I'm waiting on either 2x80gb or 1x160gb SLC drives to become available at a reasonable price. The intel SLC drives still drive a huge premium over MLC and the MLC drives are very expensive to begin with. :|

160Gb MLC - $449
80Gb MLC - $224
64Gb SLC - $725
32Gb SLC - $369

No problem. If I didn't have 2 IDE 60 gig players working flawlessly, I'd be all over that, because frankly it's better all way round. Solid State, thinner so you can use a full-size battery, what's not to love?

(I'll see if my son is up for an upgrade of his 20gig player)  ;-)
edit: He likes to go jogging with his, but he's the 1 in a thousand who can run with one of the hard-drive players and not have it skip.
