Subject: Carbon recognized by Mac but not by PC
This is Act II of previous post "Carbon not recognized by WinXP"

After reinstalling all the Rio software I could find, my PC running WinXP SP3 still cannot read the Carbon's hard disk.  The PC shows it with a drive but with nothing inside.  I hooked the Carbon up to my wife's Mac and everything works normally.  So it appears that the problem is not the Carbon.  Any guesses why a Mac would see it but not a PC?

Besides "Windows is a piece of crap" ;)

That being said, you shouldn't need any special software to use the Carbon on any machine, as it's just a standard removable disk.

Thanks, krazykit.  I had a Carbon a while ago that met an untimely demise.  Before its death it worked just fine using Windows 2000, but then the PC stopped being able to read its disk.  I upgraded my OS and got a replacement Carbon only to find that the PC still can't read the disk.  It's hard to just chalk it up to Windows being a POS.  Surely there's an explanation other than Macs are smarter.  Maybe my PC exhausted itself with the first Carbon.  hmmmm.....
