Subject: Ode again to the Vibez
Clearly the best device on the market after the FW updates. Clearly.
I just cringe every time someone on the Sansa forum asks for some new feature. Pretty much every time they do I have to restrain myself from replying:

"Vibez had that"
"Vibez did that"

I hate you Trekstor for not producing a Flash version of that wonderfull player.....
;)

When you could still get them, I went into NYC twice to check the Vibez out, but never pulled the trigger. Was kind of broke then. Never did get to listen to it. The second time I went, there wasn't even music on the demo (J&R). Sorry I missed out

My Karma keeps flaking out and is probably on its last legs. So this week I just bought a 5.5gen ipod video refurb and rockboxed it. Nice, but I still wonder what I missed.

I'm very new here, but I was searching Google for mobile FLAC players, and I came across the Trekstor Vibez.

Their web site shows that they have 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB models -- all flash.

Please let me know if this is new or if this has been up for a while.  Not a single vendor on their "where to buy" list has this product in stock.  My 1st Gen iPod Nano (RockBox) has a failing screen, and since it's only 2GB, I figured it might be time for a new player.  This seems like a good community, and I'd love to have the crossfade and gapless playback features (like what I've had in RockBox for years) straight out of the box.

Trekstor no longer sells the Vibez. It was the best non-Rockboxed player on the market but it is now gone and has not been replaced yet. Supposedly the company that manufactured them for Trekstor went under. I guess Trekstor is developing something else but they are extremely slow to market. In fact, the flash version was never released...
I wouldn't expect anything from them any time soon.

I read this on the Trekstor website today:
22.07.09 - TrekStor GmbH & Co. KG petitions for the opening of insolvency proceedings
http://www.trekstor.de/en/news/index_detail.…?xcm_sort_n…
Hope that they will make it in the future though. As my personal sign of confirmation, I bought the last 12GB Vibez sold for 80 Euros as an item on display in my local retail store in Nuremberg/Germany. Just in case...
