Subject: Cowon S9.
I received it yesterday..... So What Can I said about this player.....


IT IS FANTASTIQUE!  XD

Sound Quality: Just a little bit under the karma. a bit more flat, but I think you can correct that with the equalizer.
Interface: Wow, I read a lot of stuff about the interface, and I was sceptical, but except some few problem of icone in the musics mode everything is fine.
Built Quality: Too light but good plastique; I will have love a true metal body.....
THe screen is great....


You have a favorite option. so you can add a tonne of song that you really love.
You can have a ramdom song list: Add song and random that shall do it.
You have a new song loading. Up to 6 month wich is not bad.

You don't have gapless but it is really near; it did not bother me at all.

So yes, after 3 years I do have a replacement for my Karma. I highly sujest it.

I think that over reating, period.
Gapless is RARE amount the player.
What do you want? GOod sound quality or bad sound Quality with gapless?
THe vibez F was suposed to be realase it did not and will never. No body have a good option of quality right now. By far the Cowon S9 is the machine that will be a macht for my karma.Cowon S9 have a couple of Update releasse so far. People areasking for Gapless.... I think cowon si working on it.

The software that comming with it is great. It can do anything. It a nice player; I work in a electronics store and the mp3 player a mostly poor in general. The sound quality on most of the player is bad. They don't read ogg, they don't have a five band EQ. No playlist option, or bookmark......Tell me is a good reason to be that harsh Crazy Kid. That sad for the Gapless. But that don't mean it will not appear in a future (look at the rio DJ in the vibez).

Let see what will happen for the future, but that player is a great player, gapless or not...

I don't think you're going to convince anyone who considers gapless playback a prerequisite for buying a DAP that gapless playback isn't that important...but I'm glad the S9 is a Karma replacement for you.

For my money, a true Karma/Vibez successor will come in the form of Rockbox for the Sansa Fuze/e200v2.

I looked at the S9 before I bought my Fuze. I didn't want it for one simple reason... it's to damn big. ;)

Please.  The Karma had gapless playback years ago.  Rockbox has it, Apple even added it to the iPod.  Sandisk has recently implemented it on the Fuze (and others?).

I want good sound quality with music played back the way it's meant to be.  I really don't think that's too much to ask.

NOT on the Fuze yet. Sansa are "looking into it" because of the rather large demand.

I not to convince somebody that the gapless is not important, my point is that a player isn not a scrapt if he dosen't have it. Rockbox look good, but I did want to got hunt for a player X to go with rocbox. Also I did love the interface of rockbox, or a  least the screen shot. But i sure that will be great just for music alone. Specially if you doN't want to paid too much, those thing after all are the most disposible thing I know, after Portable DVD player.  The next thing to come on the list is the CameraXD

The Karma was unique and it still unique today, you can not finds something similair, if not I would have bougth the thing that could replace a Karma(i have been looking for years).
Rockbox is fan base, it is not a player, rockbox may change the mentality of the manufacturer in the future however.

Apple did it, that one, none of person who are buying a ipod know about it, no body that sell the ipod know about it either and more than 90% of the buyer of the ipod don't care about gapless. On all those person that want gapless, I don't think they will like to use a ipod beacause of the sound quality and the lack of good format (OGG/flac).

The fuse dosen't have it, the clip also, you need to use Rockbox. So that make 1 player, and yes it is hardto find go player that have a good sound, that not easy. So until a new karma come out we will have to got on compromised, sad but true.

Hope they put gapless in  the fuse by the way....

Peregrine, you reason is really good, if you not ready to carry a mp3 player with you everywhere, it is not a good player for you:)

THe fuze look nice, to bad I can only buy it a futureshop;p

BTW, Zunes also have gapless playback, along with great sound quality. But I agree, CardMaster, that finding a Karma replacement is a matter of compromising for now.

Rockbox is quite a bit more than a fanbase, considering the breadth of players it runs on and the features available.  Saying it's not a player (technically, it's not hardware, but firmware) is absurd.

Looks like I was wrong on the Fuze, though I would've sworn I saw it in the changelog for a newer firmware revision.

I still maintain that it's not that they don't care about gapless, it's that until buying a crap player it naturally wouldn't occur to them that some players might not be gapless.

Maybe I misunderstand you (no worries) but I do carry my Player everywhere which is why I wanted the smallest one I could find + enough capacity and a pretty screen = Fuze. S9 to big for a front pocket, imo.

Cowon S9 have Gapless now with Updated 2.31.
The major fonction that people where looking is there.
