Never been a huge fan of sansa's GUI, but what is missing that you MUST have? It now does MOST of what the karma did. Buy an 8GB + 16GB card and you have more space then the Karma and twice as much as the Vibez.
Yea, it's missing a LOT of cool little Vibez features, and as I said, no DJ... but what else do you want in a player? Gapless, prolly, right?

As for Rockbox... Hopefully this means the wait isn't to far off:

Bookmarking (Sessions)

Even my old RIO Forge has this. If my Vibez died my Forge would be back in service for this feature alone.

If I had to choose right now, which I don't, I would probably be looking at Cowon D2 or a Rockboxed iPod.

I had my 14-month-old ipod die in february.  Am using my Karma, but in two weeks of use, I've already had to tear out the drive and reformat it.  I think I'm going to buy a 5g ipod and roxbox it.  Fuze does intrigue me, though.  Have ipod accessories and don't really want to switch.
If I had a signature, think I'd share it with YOU?

Yes, gapless -- which I greatly value -- as well as full-featured on-the-fly playlisting (none of this single, barely alterable, and un-savable "Go List" business). Rockbox's user-creatable GUIs are actually a big deal for me, too, since they allow me to choose which information to display (like the volume in dB); an added bonus is that several of them are also quite attractive (which the Sansa GUI decidedly is not).

I hope it's worth the money!

My vibez is still going strong.

Oooh, the HiFiMan! I hope it's worth the money, too. Do let us know what you think when(ever) you get one, rxxdoc.

I just took a gander at that link: Does the HiFiMan really not support MP3s, or is that just a clerical oversight?

I've got to say, the HiFiMan looks like a piece of crap for that price.  SDHC storage only?  Poor format support?

The draw of the HiFiMan is in its modularity, its incorporation of a top-notch amp, and its stellar sound quality. Clearly, it's a niche product.

With that said, I'll never be buying one. My Rockboxed Fuze works just fine for me (and my wallet)...

It is not pretty, but all I care about is the sound.  I post my impressions when I actually get it.

Got my HiFiMan yesterday.  It sounds wonderful.

And it is huge, but it has a very nice finish.

It can drive my Senn 600hd.  I mean really drive them, not just make noise through them.

I love my HiFiMan!

[The wife is pissed at me, but she'll get over it and I will will still have it, so I consider it a win, LOL]

Nice, rxxdoc. Out of pure vicarious curiosity, what formats does it support? How are the GUI, general navigation, and firmware? Any chance you could post some pics of the screen in use?

APE Fast、Normal、High Mode
AAC 16K-320Kbps
FLAC lossless VBR 44.1kHz and 24bit 96KHz
WMA 8-355kbps
OGG Quality 0-Quality 10
WAV PCM,MS-ADPCM,IMA-ADPCM
MP3(VBR) 8-320Kbps

GUI and navigation are pretty straight forward.
Top 2 buttons bring you into and out of a folder.
Middle button is play, pause.
Bottom 2  buttons scroll up and down.

For  photos of the screen ...

Firmware I will say Beta (ish).

Sound - Sounds better than my Marantz 67SE cd player.  It has a true dedicated line out that I can hook to my headphone amp.  When I run it through my headphone amp it is really hard for me to describe other than breathtaking.

It will not leave the safety of my house often.

It was worth my wife's scorn.  It is worth the extra care you need to take in order to load the flac files (It does not like .cue files, nor really anything other than straight music files.

It's heavy because it is mostly battery.  It will actually produce some heat (warmth) while you play it.

I still use my Vibez and my Cowon D2 often, but with the HiFiMan it's different in a very good way.
