Subject: I can't quite open mine...
I saw the DIY on the site, it looks good, but they don't show disassembly, the links broken, only reassembly. Doees anyone have it viable, the PDF file? Or have advice on it?
It looks like the repair page was updated to point to a new guide but it was never uploaded to the site or something. In any case, you can find the old disassembly page here.
There is a guy on ebay that sells parts. peegee55 or something like that. If you search for rio karma on ebay you will find him. I will look at yours if you want to send it to me and I'll tell you what I think is wrong with it. I'm in Atlanta, GA
I have converted 3 of them to use compact flash cards instead of the harddrive. Replaced the battery on them and glued the wheel back on to two of them but I don't have any replacement parts.
Note that this is just the functional bit, not the cosmetic cover that you'll need to remove from the old wheel. Also, take really really good note: desoldering and replacing the wheel is NOT EASY. It's very easy to lift traces and then you're in a patch nightmare.
Very sorry I didn't post in such a long time but suppose I wanted to mail mine to somebody, anyone know a company that will take and repair it (or even an individual)?
Are you in the States or England? I've done plenty of repairs, but I'd rather not. If you're in the States, try emailing John Briggs at jpbriggs at onlyinternet dot net and see if he'll take it.
