Subject: Rio Forge with SD Memory Card... Can't Find Downloaded Content
I put a 1 GB SD memory card into my Rio Forge. It's using firmware v 1.33. I hooked it to my MacBook (OS X 10.5.5) but difficulties. iTunes won't acknowledge its existence. But, Finder seems cool with it. So, I dragged my Audio books onto the SD card. Finder says great. The Rio churned for a long time downloading. Everything seemed fine.

Now, how do I find the files on the Rio? I've hunted through all the menus and can't find the SD card contents.

Finder says it's in there. The Rio player Storage Info says that the SD card has 197 MB of stuff.

I just can't figure out how to select it to play.

Suggestions?

And you can see your audio books on the internal storage right?

All content on the forge appears in the same music list.

BTW That's a very old version of the forge firmware, I suggest using an updated version.

The Forge lists no content. No songs or audio books or anything. However, when I look at memory usage, apparently 160+ MB is taken up by something. I've tried leaving the batteries out for a few days, but that doesn't clear it out.

I use a MacBook Pro [Mac OS X 10.5.5 (9F33)] and iTunes 8.0, but iTunes can't see the Rio. Finder could see the Rio, so I used Finder to delete everything from the Rio. Unfortunately, Finder can't put anything onto the Rio.

I haven't been able to upgrade the firmware because it's not working right with the Mac. I've installed Parallels onto my Mac (it's a Virtual Machine system) with Windows XP Pro. I haven't installed the Rio software into the WinXP 'guest' operating system, but I'm hoping that, once I've done that, the WinXP and Rio will talk.

Thanks for the reply. Any additional insights are welcome.

muggsy, try this link http://www.rioaudio.com/support/rio/product.asp?prodID=214 which will lead you to this link http://www.rioaudio.com/itunes/Web_Installer_OSX/install_O…

anyway, as an alternative, virtualization software seems to be a solution for many users. i use vmware fusion.
