Subject: Anyone using CHROME?
Totally digging it. Seems about 2x faster then everything else.

Anyone else trying it?

I've got it, but I haven't noticed any speed differences. Maybe I haven't used it long enough.

2 other reasons I'm not using it:

1. It's got the Safari carpet-bombing bug in the Webkit engine, still.
2. Adblock/NoScript. Nuff said.

I WANT to like it...does that count?

I don't care if it is 2x faster, I want adblock, I want gestures, I want the ability to get rid of that stupid blue color.

That being said, I didn't like it a whole lot.

Conceptually it's a fucking brilliant idea and it's an incredibly ambitious project but as macky pointed out, it's got some issues to overcome - oddly enough my complaints are the exact same as his. However since it's open source and it's backed by a huge marketing machine I think it'll gain traction and become a great browser just like Firefox has as well as introduce these great ideas into the hearts of other browsers. That said, since I don't need gestures and I can get over ads and blue while I'm on my laptop, it'll be nice and lightweight which Firefox isn't.

I love nearly everything about it. The few qualms I have keep me from using it, though. I want/need very specific tab-behaviour, like Tab Mix Plus has gotten me used to. I also want middle-click scrolling to work for my ThinkPad (I use the clitmouse and upper buttons mostly). I'd like to have the toolbar(s) customisable, so I can make it a slight more minimalist, though I wouldn't mind too much if this never appeared as an option. I'd like "middle-click link to open in new unfocused tab" to work properly on, oddly enough iGoogle (it works fine everywhere else).

There are a few things I do love, though. The URL bar being a search bar is interesting, useful, and innovative. The lack of a status bar and the way they've replaced its functions with hover-over blips is pretty awesome (I've always disabled the status bar in Firefox, because I very much like minimalism). I like having the tabs above the rest of the interface, because it keeps mistakes down to a minimum. In Firefox, I have tabs along the bottom of the window, because I interact with the bookmarks toolbar, google-box, and such more often than I do with my task-bar (for which I can just use alt-tab and win-tab, anyway). With Chrome's placement, I could leave the tab-bar at the top, which I really would prefer. The removal of the Downloads window and replacement with a downloads bar at the bottom is pretty fast, unobtrusive, and useful. The "application" shortcut is novel, and useful if you're the kind of person that doesn't have a web browser open 24/7. The rendering speed really is incredible, and the way it remembers log-in info is just as good as FF's, if not better. The consolidation of the menu-bar into a little wrench icon fits my idea of what a browser should look like perfectly.

Blah blah blah ramble. I really like the browser, but it needs a few more things before I can use it like I use Firefox.

I tried it, but I went back to Opera pretty quickly. I like all the keyboard shortcuts, the option to open in a new or background tab, the right click options to do a search on selected text, or go to a non-linked URL.

I'm using it on my laptop at the moment, and I may keep doing so. It is indeed much more lightweight than Firefox, and as this is a crappy laptop used only for taking notes and a bit of web browsing, it fits the bill rather better. We'll see if I can live without my Tab Mix Plus.

I do find it interesting that five tabs in Chrome take up more memory than 18 in Firefox, but respond much more snappily. Perhaps I'll try Photoshop with each browser running on this computer and see how I feel about things then.

Edit: I do find it interesting that Chrome also exhibits a behavior that I've only seen before in Firefox: the scrolling function on the built-in trackpad doesn't work, merely changes to the "now scrolling" cursor but doesn't go anywhere. It works fine in every other application as well as with an external mouse, so I'm curious as to why two web browsers would exhibit similar behavior in a malfunction that has little to do with their primary purpose.

Scrolling works for me both ways in Chrome and only vertically in FF. This seems to be the general consensus, no?

I think there's an about:config to make sidescrolling work right in some instances, but fuck me if i remember it.

That being said, while Chrome looks neat, I won't be trying it.  Not interested in letting google know EVERYTHING about me.

And for lightweight windows browsers?  K-meleon has adblock now...

Still like Chrome.

Downloaded and instaled IE8 BETA. Definitly a beta. Buggy as all hell Crashing constantly, although it doesn't crash like IE7 did. It fixes itself and stays open. But it's CONSTANT. Stay away for now....

For me, I had to update my trackpad drivers.  That fixed it.

Updated those, too. I don't really mind all that much; I usually use middle-button and clitmouse to scroll.

So who is still using Chrome at this point? I've since gone back to Firefox just because I miss my extensions.

At work:
IE - 70%
FF - 25%
CH - 5%

Home:
FF - 50%
IE - 50%

I still think Chrome does load pages faster and I do like the DL Manager although Firefox is still miles ahead of everyone on the DL Manager. And that's the same DL Manager FF has been using for years! Can't believe IE STILL doesn't have a queue.
