nope, unfortunately not...that's still a concern, just not as high a concern as when it was the 32gb @130.... I really hope they aren't using whatever shit iriver have been putting into their recent stuff...that's some slooooow flash memory.

Geting closer. Amazon Germany now lists the 16 GB vibez for 163 euro and the 8 GB for 132 euro.

Still no sign of it on any US online stores (Amazon, J&R, B&H or Target).
Sean Michael Taylor #21 (1983-2007). Thank you for giving it everything you had. Rest In Peace.

Oh sweet golly. I don't think to replace my 12G vibez with 32G before spring, but I'll be doing it certainly. Some bad tracks on the hard drive from rare falldowns here and there. Go Trekstor!

Sent Trekstor an email to see if they planned to release this in the states. I don't think anyone has officially said?!?

No word yet.

Guess I should have checked my email before I posted and not after.

"Sorry for the delay.

Yes, the vibez flash will be distributed in the U.S.A.  It should be
available shortly.

Thank you,
Support Team"

I will totally buy the largest one that is available when it's released, be it a 16 or a 32.

8 GB = 99€
16 GB = 124€
32 GB = 299€

What the hell ?
I mean, 124€ for the 16 GB is very decent.
299€ for the 32 GB is highly indecent.

Anybody will wager it's a typo ?
I saw some people around here mention 199€ for the 32 GB version. Maybe more something like that ?

I have placed an order on the 8 GB last January, then modified my order to make it a 16 GB when it was announced on this website... and now this very 16 GB version is labelled as "available within a week"...
So I'm gnawing on my fingers while typing this post, trying to decide whether I mail them and ask they change my order for a 32 GB or not.
It is definitely pricey, but definitely spacey... and definitely not available for nowey...

DILEMMA !!

The trekstor rep told me that the 32gb model would be priced at €199, i'll contact them again tomorrow to find out if that was another mistake...

I contacted mp3-player for my part.
They usually answer quite fast, so I expect to have more news by tomorrow...
Let's hope THEY made the typo ;)

Wait... how much were you expecting it to be?!? Didn't most of you in this very post say "$199?!? No way. If so they are using crappy slow flash memory.."   ;)
In any event, I won't pay $340USD for a 32 or whatever. Looks like a 16 for me.

Where did you get the 340 from? € 299 is closer to $ 440 than to $ 340.

euro does not convert to dollars at the market rate when pricing is concerned...just look at.....well any DAP out there...

To me, pricing follows a logarithmic progression more than anything else.
If you tell that the 8 GB version is 99€, the 16 GB one is 124€, I won't expect the 32 GB to be 299€, but more like 199-ish.
Because, well, not all parts are involved as far as storage is concerned.
That's just the question of adding a couple memory chips / including a larger HDD.
The other electronics remain the same.

Thus, you *should* be able to think in terms of "the 'core' components cost that much, and the memory costs that much".
For instance in this particular case, I would assume that you have some 75€ of, say, "core electronics" and 25€ in memory chips for the 8 GB.
That would make 75€ still for the same electronics, and 50€ in memory for the 16 GB.
Applied to the 32 GB, that would make 75€ for the electronics and 100€ for the memory, for a grand total of 175€.
You can claim that larger memory chips cost more, thus reaching the 199€ which were mentioned at some point, but I still see no reason why it would top the advertised 299€.

But I know that logic is rarely of much help when pricing is involved.
The same way that dollar/euro conversion doesn't apply, especially in the DAP market (and most products, actually...)

Anyhoooooow, here goes mp3-player.de's answer (my questions in bold, his answers in italic) :
Hello,

I would like to know if you have an estimate date of availability for the 32 GB version of the Trekstor Vibez.

no - is unknown

Also, is the price of 299€ right or a typo ?
it can be that the price still changes

Do you confirm it will be 299€ on your website ?
at the moment yes

I have placed an order on the 16 GB one, which is labelled as "available within 4-6 days",
yes presumably in 4-7 days

kind regards

FOWG. (Flat Out Wild Guess)

While I surely agree it SHOULD be 199, I was just saying, some of you were complaining that if it was 199 it must be garbage.
