Welllll I already wrote this over at DAPreview and am way to lazy/tired to re-write it right now so just check out the link... http://www.dapreview.net/comment.php?comment.news.4318

I'll actually type something proper here eventually, but right now I want a nap.

Where do I put my order in?  Anyone interested in a very heavily used but very reliable 12 GB vibez?  :P

From: Trekstor Vibez Website
All MP3 players will be on display at the IFA and available from the end of September. Prices vary depending on capacity, with the i.Beat organix 2.0 ranging from €39.00 and €69.00, the TrekStor vibez Flash from €79.00 to €129.00 and the i.Beat nova between €29.00 and €49.00.

Does this mean €129.00 for 32gb?  What is that, about $200?  Sounds promising.  "From September" could mean anything though (and probably does)
This is my signature, damn proud of it!

I think what that means is that the base model Vibez will cost somewhere in the range between 79-129.

That's not the way it reads to me. From the TrekStor press release:

Sounds like €129.00 has to be the price for the biggest (32gb) vibez Flash player.

Either way, this is great news!

I know that's not how it reads, but logically it sounds ridiculous to have on a €50 euro difference between it's lowest capacity model and it's highest capacity model.

Then if the 32gb model was €129 that would make it the cheapest 32gb player available, even cheaper than the Sandisk Sansa 32gb view and given that Sandisk produce their own flash memory that seems an impossible feat to accomplish while still turning a profit.

Then, hypothetically staying with the unlikely event of the 32gb Vibez costing €129, if trekstor are in some way able to sell the Vibez at that price without making a loss one would have to assume they are using some damn cheap and slow slow slow memory.

This would seem to indicate the reason for the price range is capacity. Why would the manufacturer quote a range of €50 on the base model instead of just telling us the MSRP?

I can't wait. I wonder how soon and how available these will be in the US? The current model was only sold from a few outlets. I wonder how many were actually sold in the US to people who weren't already RIO fans?

There is no questioning the way it reads, I think that is clear as day.

BUT from a logical point of view, 32gb for €129 is highly unlikely...not impossible, but highly unlikely.

Thing about it, though, at that price point they should sell a LOT more. Maybe that's the plan? Price it so well that they sell a ton? Who knows what kind of deal they worked out with their supplier. And even SLOW flash memory has to be quicker then a hard disk, no? They probaby can do it cheaper, too, because they own the chip underneath.

All the Karma hold outs might finally make the switch, too, for a 32G player. ;)

Please don't let this be vaporware like the Karma2. ;)

No, in most cases file transfer to flash players is quite a bit slower than that of their hdd based cousins, so if trekstor are going to charge €129 and not make a loss one assumption could be that they are using very poor flash memory.

If trekstor sell the 32gb model for €129 then that seems like a great deal for the consumer...it seems like too great a deal, hence my scepticism...you know how it is when something seems too good to be true...it usually is.

Subject: Price Update
Got word from trekstor, their retail price for the 32gb Vibez is going to be €199, not the €129 they mentioned in the initial press release.... Bloody great price, unless that turns out to be a mistake too :P

Cool. Does that at all dampen your fears of them utilizing slow-ass memory?
