Hmm, well the mystery deepens, as I've experienced gaps in the first two days of ownership. Handy for train announcements on the commute if the player times it right though!

Well see?  It's a feature, not a bug!

So....how you guys like being beta testers?

Has anybody with this problem tried reflashing firmware?

Seriously, you're starting to make me glad I have stuck with my Karma.
If I had a signature, think I'd share it with YOU?

Ha! I LOVE being a beta tester for this product. It IS a great product overall.

Actually I did reflash recently.

OK so maybe the problem is the higher quality OGG's and recording at 4-5-6 would be much better.
I'll try my next rip at 5 and see how that goes. But it IS a bug, damnit! I should be able to use any Q, doncha' think?

Yep it'a a bug -> power comsumption related -> SoC should be at higher power state because OGG playing needs more power -> TrekStor forgot that. Try to plug you Vibez to computer and see that OGG bug is gone.

So is this firmware fixable? Or am I left with the choice of either re-ripping my music to mp3 or ensuring I don't have long playlists of ogg files?

Tetley, re-rip to Ogg Q6 and I think you'll be happy.

I have no doubt it is firmware fix-able. Although I am no developer.... could just be the optimist in me.

Yeah it's definitly firmware related problem but we need new firmware - last version was released 6 months ago... TrekStor is treating us as a dumbs - it's my personal feeling - what are they waiting for!! I'm pissed off about this problems!

Cpu, I wouldn't take it personally.  As I said earlier, this firmware has been in some form of development for at least 5 years, probably 6 or more.  And Trekstor didn't write it, they licensed it from Sigmatel.  I imagine Trekstor did little more than help pick the physcial design and add a little branding.  But, any changes have to go through both companies.

The fact that there have been no fw updates in the 4-5 months since its release really don't worry me, especially since Trekstor has confirmed that new fw is in the works.

Yes, but how long we need to wait for new firmware - OGG as we know is broken - is it so hard to fix this? And another thing is - when I buy something I have right to expect that product will satisfy my basic needs - for now I can't play OGG without lag and I don't have recording in 48 kHz but TrekStor told that 48 kHz is avaliable... I'm Vibez user since 5 months and this waiting starts to boring me - really. We don't have even accesories at time that TrekStor declared. I don't want the impossible - I just want working product - it's too much? Sorry for this complains but I'm irritated... Samsung used STMP 3600 (yep Vibez SoC) and made his own firmware (didn't use SDK from Sigmatel) -> Samsung gives OGG playback without problems and gapless - they don't daclare what they don't have they simply improve they product (like gapless addition or battery life improvments). In a past I owe Samsung YP-Z5F too so maybe that's why I'm irritated.

Maybe.  Tracking down bugs like this can be hard work.  It may be something UI-related or the bug could be in the Vorbis-decoder eating up more CPU time than it should.

I've located this bug by my own - it's power related - SoC needs more power to decode OGG stream, it's probably related to frequency setting -> SoC needs boost but don't have enough power to do this because firmware limit this. As I said - when we plug Vibez to DC adapter or USB socket and Vibez takes power from other source than battery - problem don't occurs.

Well, hey, if it's that easy, try this:

- connect the vibez to a pc in msc mode.
- create a new file in the .private folder called custom.ini
- add the following line to custom.ini:  OggAccelerateReallyReallyFast=1
- reboot.

Let me know if that solves it for you.
