Subject: Additional stock of vibez 12 GB on the way?
I got an interesting/intriguing email from TrekStor's US distributor the other day that says:

From: Support Trekstor
Date: Thu, 11 Jun 2009 16:19:54 -0400
To: 'Ruben'<xxxxxxx@xxxxxxxxxxxx>
Subject: RE: Flash vibez availability?

Hi Ruben

I have some good news for you. We are going to get some vibez 12GB the cost is $197.00 plus shipping & handling $10.95

Let me know if you want us to reserve one for you.

Thanks

Best Regards,
xxxx xxxxxxx

(I stripped out the sender's name and cell phone.)

I replied asking for more details, since the hard drives haven't been manufactured in two years; and I'd be stunned if TrekStor miraculously stumbled accross a batch of used vibezes.

Anyway, I'll post an update when I know more.

I just stumbled back here as I'm bored and as Peregrine has pointed out, the Sansa boards really just don't cut it.  I too would like to know more.   I'm very happy with my clip, but seriously it is no match for the vibez in terms of options for music playback.

If they were perhaps to have a few more to sell, I wonder if they would consider dropping that $197 price tag.  Existing vibez would be no spring chickens; for all we know they've been sitting in a warehouse somewhere awaiting distribution and losing battery life.

I've been wondering what would become of this thread. Nothing so far...

The most I got out of her was something to the effect of, I hope your vibez doesn't die, but if it does we'll have some extras here.

No answer at all to my question about the state of these things.  I'd be happy to take one if it has been sitting in a warehouse unused.  The worst it would need is a fresh battery.  I agree that $197 is kinda high for a 2.5 year old DAP.

Ha! Let it never be said that TrekStor was too forthcoming... :-p

$197 is so worth it considering how they are so superior to almost everything out there.

Email her and tell her you have buyers!

Hm...So I'm guessing the new Seagate drives must work as drop-in replacements for the old Cornice ones, in order to make this particular Vibez resurrection worthwhile/possible when producing the flash Vibez was not...

IIRC, there is a voltage difference between the Cornice drives and everything else including the Seagate drives.  My question is, will fw 1.19 work with the Seagate?

I think my vibez just died.  Gonna give it another day and another try at reviving it tomorrow.  In the meantime, it's back to my Karma, and man does it still sound phenomenal.

Hey, defector, if I get my hands on a Seagate-flavored vibez, will 1.19 work on it?

Thanks!

Hi there,

I have a dead 12GB player due to disk failure and I'd really like to replace it, if possible. Can anyone confirm that the new Seagate drives work as drop-in replacements for Cornice ones?
Which Seagate disks do they have inside, and can they be bought by consumers?
Thanks,
Cristi

Odd. I thought the Seagate 12GB never made it to production:

Subject: hi de hi
Hi guys

This is my first posting visit after Trekstor finally admitted they couldn't produce the VibezF. I just dropped in to see what everyone was making of the new S9 firmware with added gapless, M3u etc.

It looks like some things never change - Trekstor continue to tease us with the Vibez, and the true successor to the Karma still isn't here, although the S9 is very encouraging. I have been using a Cowon D2 DAB, it ticks a lot of boxes for me: supports ogg vorbis and FLAC, has a digital radio, 16GB expandable up to 40GB - BUT IT DOESN'T DO GAPLESS!!!! Try listening to a great live album like Seconds Out without gapless...

My son has a Sansa Fuze, he rates it but says it is no match for his Vibez.

I'm in the same camp as RubenNYC - I keep going back to my Karma; something else I suspect will never change so long as it's alive.

Best regards to all.
